1. So the Trumpster crowd actually got nothing. They immediately decided that they were suddenly better off just because Trump said so. 2. You left out! 3. Trump abrogated any responsibility or leadership early on. Had FDR done that in 1941, this conversation would be in German. If you’re celebrating the fuhrer’s vocal refusal to lead, well........ 5. The usual right wing rot that has been recited by rote for 100 years, dispite history that clearly demonstrates that it is wrong.
Although I have a lot of sympathy for the Kurds, and feel that if any peoples in the middle east who don't currently have a state deserve one, they do; but I'm simply not interested in getting involved in a massive military operation to reorder the map of the middle east. Since we finally have achieved energy independence from the region, we can finally step back and not risk blood and treasure to fine tune a region that is impossible to fine tune. If you can't see why millions of people in the country have no interest in your crusade maybe you should try some "right wing talk radio or trash blogs."
You desperately need to believe that, so you can safely ignore the policy differences and agenda. I'm constantly amazed that after years of Trump, some people have learned absolutely nothing about how we got to this point, and seemingly don't care to learn. They just want to snuggle in their prejudices. Enjoy the snuggling!
Me thinks all of your observations be spot on. Yes I see the racism thing as contributing to the lower income tRumpian support... maybe not so much for the Rich Right and the Corporate Right. All the wealthy right care about is their net worth....race is of no concern unless it somehow effects their financial outlook... like maybe the BLM riots. I think not so wealthy tRumpists use the race card because they need somebody to blame for their hatred and discontent. Some will even admit tRump is worthless....but he makes the left angry so the righties can rejoice that they have made everyone else as miserable as themselves. One of the tRump flags I see hanging on local residences says something about "tRump 2020 Making Liberals Miserable again".
Memes are great. Why think for ones self when it has already been done for you! My daughter was a Democrat and she voted for Hillary. She looked at the results of Dem control here in CA and will now vote for Trump even though she "hates his guts."
I have put this in my favorites to go back too. I need time to go over it and make a few counter-points. Before Trump walked down that Elevator the only thing I knew about him was he had a Casino in Atlantic City which was run down and dirty, The times he hosted Saturday Night Live I turned the channel and his show Your Fired was just Ok. He caught my attention when he refused to take the pledge to support the nominee. He wasn't a lawyer, he wasn't a politician, he said what he thought, and he took all the bullets tossed his way. This guy was different. I thought his platform was just another wish list but it was in line with a lot of my feelings. Today I rate him one of the top Presidents in my lifetime. He has accomplished most all he said he would do and more. Imagine, nominated for two Peace Prizes.
Trump is a master of knowing what people want and promising to get it for them. He went to coal country and promised to bring coal back knowing it was never going to happen since natural gas is more profitable and even where coal was being excavated, the mines were becoming more and more mechanized. Clinton went to coal country and explained that coal was not coming back but her administration would retrain former coal miners to do 21st century jobs that would enable these people to get a job with a living wage. The former coal miners voted for Trump. The coal jobs didn't come back and instead of being retrained, these people got nothing. Trump is a master of promising the impossible, or at least the improbable. The "lock her up" chants despite Clinton not committing any crimes, or the "Mexico will pay for the wall" nonsense, were gobbled up by gullible people who should have known better.
Yes that's exactly the phenomenon....but they still say "look at all the great things he's done". WTF? Look at the present state of this country....you can't even find a box of ammo in the stores to buy. This is insanity...and they keep cheering him on.
~ Trumpism comes from the same place as Obamaism and Hillaryism. HOPE ! People vote in hope that their saviour will make things better and happy. Few try and all fail. But it keeps the "dream " alive for the next sucker that comes along .
It is a simple reaction. Since decades leftist parties and movement in the Western World dictate more and more the agendas and burning their countries, regions and communities into the ground. So called conservatives often dont have the guts to confront them, but wanna be the best friend of the left media when in charge. The voters in the US understood the problem and put someone in charge who does not shyly ask the leftist press if they are satisfied with him, but spits in their faces, because no one needs sissy-conservatives. He plays with their stupidity, but he does not laugh with them, does not eat with them and does not shake hands with them. We need more political leaders like him.
~ Trump is transforming the Republican party into the people's party . He is "the real deal' and many don't like real. Fortunately they seem to be the minority.
Oops I read you out of context and was about to say are you real...I got it. Yah you are right many people think he is a populist and real because he is so rude and hates everyone and everything. Yep. That is real for some people. They believe he is the quintessential anti politician when he in fact is just another of a long list of methane gas emitting social deviants.
I hate Trump and intend to vote for Joe Biden. Nevertheless, I have more sympathy for the white blue collar workers who support Trump than the author of that article. Immigration is an economic issue. By competing for jobs immigrants enable employers to reduce wages. By competing for places to live immigrants enable landlords to raise rents. I was angered by the wide spread elite sympathy for the black ghetto riots that followed the death of George Floyd. I can understand why white blue collar Republicans shared my anger.
Trump has followed the Ronald Reagan Playbook of speaking to the social concerns of whites who are not rich in order to get the power to make the rich richer. Without the support of Jerry Falwell and his Moral Majority I doubt Ronald Reagan would have defeated Jimmy Carter in 1980. As president Reagan did nothing to advance the agenda of the religious right. He did cut the top tax rate from 70% to 28%. The decline in unemployment Trump took credit for began under President Carter. Trump's most noticeable economic action has been to cut taxes for the rich, even though public opinion surveys have indicated popular support for a more progressive tax system for years. The Republican Party has become the party of the white working class. It is not the party for the the white working class. I wish I could recommend the Democrat Party. Unfortunately, it has become too woke to win the loyalty of white blue collar workers. For most people most of the time loyalties of race, nation, and ethnicity are stronger than loyalties of class.
I would more or less agree with that with the caveat that it's evolving into a working class party, but is facing a lot of headwinds. Almost all of it's elected officials are from the old establishment part (at least those that didn't become never-Trumpers) and have opposed Trump's agenda, which is why other than on a few issues they agree with, like judges, the GOP Senate has opposed almost all of Trump's agenda. Trump made a strategic mistake in signing on to tax cuts before his agenda was implemented. Once the tax cuts passed, Congressional Republicans lost all incentive to cooperate with Trump and they haven't.
Dirty Donnie is a con man who hit the lottery. It happens once in a while. He caters to his base with constant lies that they lap up. When facts and truths are against him, he counts on his base to blindly, unthinkingly echo his denials. It's been going on for over 3 years now. The rest of the country doesn't believe a word he says anymore.
I don't believe a word he or Joe says. I don't believe a word anybody in government says because it has been demonstrated many times they lie all the time. Like Pompeo bragged, we lie, we cheat and we steal.
~ It's been happening for the last 40 years. I remember Ross Perot and Ralph Nader being the only ones telling the truth. Look how that turned out ...
Just maybe the deregulation protocols instituted by Trumps administration which created more jobs and brought enthusiasm back to the markets creating over 400 historical highs in the stock market never happened. So now the lowest unemployment in HISTORY for Blacks, Hispanics, and Women never happened? No impact? Keep dreaming. What cratered the economy were Democrat Governors shutting down their own economies while allowing months of riots and the killing of American's and cops in the streets. I know leftist don't get this but Trump doesn't run the states. Your own Governors do. Get caught up. Please provide this tax bill that specifically targeted the richest Americans. You would be the first person on the planet to provide such. Like free healthcare for illegals paid by tax payers, open borders, green new deals? Please.
Trumpism is a response to modern liberalism. And the psychotic liberalism we see now is a response to Trumpism. If liberals keep at it and destroy the government as they now openly call for, a new movement will emerge from the right that will make liberals realize Trump wasn't the antichrist they made him out to be just like Bush wasn't.
Conservative Democrat? You must be the last one in America. Biden goes around and acts like he is the savior of the blue collar working class. He knows what it's like he preaches cause he was born in Scranton Pa. Joe Biden has never worked a single day as a blue-collar worker. His daddy did and then the family moved to Delaware when he was 9 years old. The Unions priced themselves out of their jobs. I was raised the same time as Joe and I remember my dad during the hard times of the auto industry in Detroit. Legal immigrants do not price Americans out of jobs and wages. Illegal immigrants certainly do. Jobs shipped overseas surely hurt the American worker. My whole family was Democrat up until Reagan. I take that back, I campaigned for Goldwater. I've voted for a few Democrats since then but I would find it unamerican to vote for Biden/Harris. Joe's racist past while in Congress needs to be exposed and discussed more. Joe's collusion with Obama and the DNC to undermine Trump in 2016 was disgusting and I hope it ALL gets exposed very soon.
Or, the old system will endure and punish reactionary right-wingers as well as the usual leftist crazies. Trump's no anti-Christ, quite true. Nor the harbinger of doom, our downfall with a comb. Nope, none of that. The libs make much out of his business side. Question --- how many libs have run businesses themselves, instead of being sidewalk superintendents dedicated to "improving" a place until it closes?
