I'm curious as to why you believed that he was missing? Are any other governors "missing?"

Well, actually, it was two Florida mayors who asked the question. And they didn't mention 'vacation' - they simply asked why he hadn't held any press conferences regarding the infection spike. It was his office who actually brought up the subject of 'vacation'.

So the direct question is - why hasn't DeSantis addressed his state in the face of this staggering infection rate increase?

 

Maybe because he's by his wife's side as she is treated for cancer?

 

I don't mean to sound insensitive, but that isn't a two week commitment.

When there has been no public communication or word from a Governor in a state with dramatic increases in infections for two weeks, I don't think its out of line to ask about him...

Actually,confirmed cases have been flat in Florida. That may well change, but for the past two weeks its been a non issue.

Probably in ICU with Covid. Florida is one of the worst places in the world right now with 76 000 daily cases.

If he on vacation, then so what? People take vacations during the holiday season and there is nothing wrong with that.

If he was with his wife while she underwent cancer treatment the criticism of him is unfair.
I am however disappointed he couldn't release a statement to reassure the people of Florida as covid numbers set daily records.
He has not made a public statement since December 17.

what is there to re-assure? We have been in covid times for 2 years.. people know what is going on and know what needs done, this is not like beginning of 2020 when everyone had no clue of what was going on and covid we lesser known. There is more to worry about in california, ny….
