I have noted that pedophilia, much like kleptomania, in an innate traits, and not a choice of the person who has the disorder, as well as noting that simply having the disorder does not automatically mean the person has or will assault a child. I have also noted that such a sexual assault on a child is also not automatically a result of the disorder.

As to whether or not God created pedophiles, there is a wide range of possibility we could go into for that. I cannot discount the possibility that He did so, and I assert that simply because we cannot determine it, that doesn't mean He doesn't have a good reason for doing so if He did. As much as a young child might think something the parent does is bad, when really it is good, so too can things that God did be perceived as bad, when really they are good, just beyond our comprehension.

 

I do understand different people seem to have propensities for different disorders but there is never an excuse to act on them. They are without excuse. Sin is something that is often handed down. It is NEVER without consequence. Jesus said "if you so much as look at a women with lust in your heart, you are guilty of adultery". So I imagine if you entertain pedophile thoughts, you are guilty of pedophilia by those same standards. We al struggle with thoughts. It is our cross to bear. When we act on those thoughts, it becomes the responsibility of our culture to respond.

I suspect that you are right. Christians see our sexuality as a divine endowment to be co creators with God and to instill intimacy between a Husband and Wife. Others see sexuality as intrinsically wholesome and therefore any application of it is acceptable. So that would open the door to what you said. It's worth mentioning that murder or the unnecessary taking of life is the worst crime because life is so valuable. Therefore our capacity to create life is as important as the highest value to which we give life.

 

As I understand it, it is not specific to any given denomination

 

LIndis, I would point out that since Catholicism has fixed beliefs on all subjects there is little cause for Catholics to seek this portion of the forum.
If your goal is to find fellow Catholics maybe you could post in say the abortion section with a question like: What is your faith and how does it influence your vote.
Protestants come to this section to evangelize, atheists to annoy.
