White privilege and I get why so many here have problems with it

So what's the excuse for non-whites?

 

Hey look, I get it. It's easy to believe in white privilege as a convenient excuse for your own failures. But how do you explain Herman Cain, Oprah Winfrey or Kanye West.

 

Do white people get hired even when less qualified than another candidate? Do they get preference in business loans and grants. That kind of 'privilege' or some other?

I think this actually makes a good point (unintentionally, I suspect). Obviously not all whites benefit from white priveledge. Those that don't become understandably frustrated when they're labeled with it anyway. It is, essentially, an often innaccurate and thus unfair stereotype.

The cops normally don't execute white people. That is white privilege.

I do believe some whites are racist and some blacks are racists, but most of it's about class discrimination

 

Actually black America has made great strides in recent years in all fields, sadly these riots have put them back about a decade.

Yeah, the cop's was provocative to say the least. My favorite part of the video was when while the cops from the several other cars that responded to the parking violation who tazed him and had him on the ground standing on a pro basketball player's ankle, he got the report over the radio that this guy was indeed a player for the Milwaukee Bucks. The original cop who could have simply written a ticket responded upon hearing the news with "F*** F*** F*** F***" Yep, he knew he'd F'd up.
The city tried to settle for $400,000 but the player said no, he want's his day in court and he's rich enough to not need the money.

 

Sorry, can't agree entirely. Yes, money plays a factor. But when someone is out living their life and there is no discernible trace of wealth, that's when we see the privilege. This is a passage from an article written about the subject...

On my very first date with my now husband, I climbed into his car and saw baby wipes on the passenger-side floor. He said he didn’t have kids, they were just there to clean up messes in the car. I twisted to secure my seatbelt and saw a stuffed animal in the rear window. I gave him a look. He said, “I promise, I don’t have kids. That’s only there so I don’t get stopped by the police.” He then told me that when he drove home from work late at night, he was getting stopped by cops constantly because he was a black man in a luxury car and they assumed that either it was stolen or he was a drug dealer. When he told a cop friend about this, Warren was told to put a stuffed animal in the rear window because it would change “his profile” to that of a family man and he was much less likely to be stopped. The point here is, if you’ve never had to mask the fruits of your success with a floppy-eared, stuffed bunny rabbit so you won’t get harassed by the cops on the way home from your gainful employment (or never had a first date start this way), you have white privilege.

white people fear cops too, cops ruin peoples lives, black and white

you think only one race is abused by bad cops, think again, all races are effected by bad cops

the poorer you look and dress, the more at risk you are from bad cops, this goes all the way from the car you drive, to the way you talk and your mannerism (IE can you afford a team of lawyers "look")
