It's interesting. Ask most people why they're voting for their choice and they start talking about the other guy. It's been a long time since I've seen anything close to logic and reason in this regard. Lots of hysterics and hyperbole but little in the way of substance. So let's hear it. What are the POLICY POSITIONS & ACCOMPLISHMENTS of your candidate / their party, that have made your determination? This thread will probably give some insight as to the strengths, weaknesses and mentality behind each candidate. I'll be curious to see what we have and whether there is ANYONE who can actually discuss issues intelligently. POLICY POSITIONS / SPECIFIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I'm voting for Gary Johnson because he's closer to supporting my viewpoint on things than anyone else.

He's Libertarian, so his stances all match the official platform of the party.

Obama and Romney are too similar for me to bother with splitting hairs in choosing one or the other.

Johnson's main accomplishment was being the Governor of New Mexico.

Are you kidding ,a serious analysis of politics in the USA ,please ,you know as I do that in the USA ,eyecolour ,skin colour, type of cologne, god belief,he seems nice on the TV ,and oh what did he do 30years ago passes as politics ,political perspective and programme ,well only one Political Party spells their programme out ,and that is the SEP[US],no other .

That makes it the only Political party running ,as distinct from fund raising coporations that are allowed to run .yes ,the Democrats and republicans are not political parties ,in the traditional sence of the word ,they are indeed nothing but fund raising corporations in political garb.

Religious Affiliation now plays such a centrsal role that the whole process is useless as to defining a leader of the people of america ,its a joke the system itself is broken and no amount of patching or bandaids can help.

money determines the result not ideas ,you are such a idealist ,HEY WAKE UP ,Smell the putridity of politics determined by Money!NOT HUMANS>

I vote SEP [everywhere ]because its the ONLY party that has a political and economic programme for me to study read and discuss, whereas all other political partys are interested in one thing MONEY!

And do not even concern themselves with the battle of Ideas .

You are a silly naieve person I see ,Johnsons main accomplishment is that he was the best oppurtunist in the struggle for the prize of Oppurtunists ,being GOVENOR OF NEW MEXICO[Did he go negative did he out spend his opponents, was it all about he who has the most cash wins] ,ok but what are the ideas in his head?describe the political tendency called "libertarian 'my money says you wouldn't have a clue what you are talking about ,and unless you live in n"free trade '19th century capitialism ,then to bwe a True libertarian is well IMPOSSIBLE as history moves on .

Go on dare you describe what makes a "libertarian'circa 2012,thats 21st century variety????go on give it a go ,good luck !

I'm voting for Obama. Accomplishments are as follows:
    Repealed DADT
Got OBL and if you don't want to give him credit for the years and dozens of Ops that led to that, took out more Al Qaeda and Taliban leaders in 3 years, than Bush did in six.
A few other things but not a lot, given what he's been up against.

    More importantly:
Wants to strengthen Dodd-Frank / Volcker Rule -if it hadn't been for Gramm Leach-Bliley there would have been no bailouts! the GOP & Romney want to get rid of Dodd-Frank, without replacing it, giving even more power to Wall St and guaranteeing future bailouts.
Only person anywhere who has proposed a serious cut in spending. While Ryan act does zero, (the Gop claims it cuts the deficit over 400 years or whatever but the Ryan act doesn't specify which tax loopholes it will cut to accomplish this, so it's BS) Obama proposed a $100 Billion+ cut in defense - as a start. And reallocation of funds to Special Ops, Intel and technology. I'm way behind that.
Obama proposed cutting loopholes that allow tax deductions for shipping jobs overseas. Guess who opposes that?
Obama proposed closing the loophole that allows offshoring funds through Double-Irish. That's hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars every year folks. Guess who swore to fight such action?

So it's not a lot but it's significant to me. other than that, I really don't see a difference between Obama and Romney - depending on which version of Romney you're talking about.

I'm voting for Romney because I want the Supreme Court to remain leaning conservative. One more liberal appointee and it flips.

I am voting for myself. The ineptitude of the current choice of candidates is lucid.

I'm voting for Obama because of his accomplisments as president so far. His foreign policy has be really good... especially considering what a mess it was before he got on the scene.

My problem with Romney is we really don't know what he stands for. It is okay for people's opinions to change over time but he has done way too many 180s on fundamental issues. I mean saying he was going to do more for gay rights than Ted Kennedy and now lambasting all the gay friendly initiatives. Saying he is going to defend a woman's right to choose and now saying he is "severely conservative" and abortion should be illegal. It's just too much. As we know all presidents have to do some course corrections once they are in office but Romney has flip flopped way too much before he has even stepped into the Oval Office.

Also Romney's budgeting makes no sense. How are you going to INCREASE military spending, cut taxes on millionares, and balance the budget?

Im crawling through glass or beating my way through Black Panthers w/billyclubs to vote for Mitt Romney.......with more enthusiasm than any other vote I have cast in my lifetime.......

It has nothing to do with Mitt Romney who I despise for being way too liberal......and everything to do with Barack HusSame Obama--The Worst President in US History.......who is the second to last person in this country that I want as President (he eeks out Nancy Pelosi). I will also be voting against any and every Democrat running at any and every level of government....as well as voting down all tax levies, tax increases, and any and everything ballot issue that grows government.

I am also voting for Obama.. The GOP field has been too embarrassing for me to return to the Republican party..

I think Obama has done a good job with foreign policy, and given more time can turn the US economy as well.

Unlike many people.. I didn't believe that anyone had a magic quick fix for our economic problems..

    I'll be voting for Romney.

Obama has had his four years, the economy is poor, unemployment is high, hope for millions of Americans is waning... I'm for trying something different.

Will it prove to be better in the end? I don't really know, but I do know if you have a bad tire on your auto, you don't continue to drive hoping it will get better. You pull to the roadside, and put a different one on.

I'm voting for Romney, not because I agree with him on every subject but because he is the candidate with the best chance to beat Obama. In my opinion, Obama is not only incompetent, he is dangerous. He has taken to himself powers assigned to Congress, ie. his recent granting of amnesty to illegal aliens.

If Obama wins a second term it will be a disaster for our nation and will fundamentally change what we stand for.

Did you watch Romney scurry just to keep up with Obama's recent decision? Mind you, not out of conviction, but for votes. Makes me wanna cry, that one.

Interestingly enough, Fl. Senator Rubio, has been for some time drafting an almost identical proposal. Which Romney said he liked, well before Obama used executive privilege to sweep this in.

To me, it appears that the Obama campaign may be the ones feeling the heat, scrambling to garner the Hispanic vote this may pick up.

Savvy move on their part, but disingenuous just the same.

    Straight-ticket GOP.

The entire Democratic Party stands for "more Obama" and that is wrong for America.

Voting for anybody else is wasting my vote. May as well stay home.

Emphasis disingenuous, both of them. They had years to fix this mess, only to wait until right before the election to garner points. I hope it backfires on both of them.

Well I won't be voting for Obama. I was pretty confident that this country could survive 4 years of liberal lunacy, not so sure about 8. We really need a guy in there who understands economics.

I'm either writing someone in (and I have a list: Ron Paul, Jon Huntsman, Bernie Sanders, Sherrod Brown, Tom Harkin, etc.), staying home, or just for kicks and giggles voting for Bush/Obama, just to stick it to ignorant righties that can't even give legitimate reasons to be against him.

Of course, he's pissed me off for being worse than Bush (and I never thought that possible) on foreign policy by doing the same crap.

I'd vote Socialist Party, but I don't think TN carries their ballot.
