Well, it depends on what you mean by "just fine"

California ranks 44th in quality of public education, 44th in Gini coefficient, 44th in fiscal condition and 47th in quality of highways.

The rich are doing just fine, the poor not so well. The liberals promote equality a a core value, the Democratic party has not delivered in California.

 

Was Kenny Boy Lay a leftist? He and his pack of thieves from Enron are responsible for much of California's financial problems. Thankfully we have a great governor in Jerry Brown who has us on the right track again. California is still the greatest state in the Union by a long shot. I am not a bit worried about our future.

 

Liberals ruin everything. Detroit, New York, Illinois, Puerto Rico, etc. All facing serious budget issues.

Connecticut is another prime example. Once a Republican state, Connecticut boomed from the 1940's to the 1980's. It had the fastest growing economy in the Northeast, based on low taxes and sane regulation policies. Then it gradually became a blue state and you know what that entails ... high taxes, draconian economic regulation, generous deals with public unions, and high budget deficits.

Today Connecticut has possibly the most stagnant economy in the Northeast. Housing values crashed in 2008 and its the only state in the Northeast where the values haven't recovered at least a little.

Liberals are like locusts ... they arrive en masse, destroy their habitat, and move on.

 

Where was I on that December day in 1969 ? That's right I had other obligations 8,000 miles away in Quang Tri Province up in I Corps.

I remember when his father Edmund G. (Pat) Brown was the driving force behind the building of the California aqueduct system in the '60s and the nit wits from the GOP were whining about the cost. In retrospect, it was one of the greatest, most cost effective projects constructed in the in the history of our state and we are still benefitting from it. Jerry Brown is an excellent governor and if and when his proposed RR project gets built I predict the same successful result. It could be the start of a much needed upgrade in our national transportation system with California, as always leading the way.
