Oh yes. There are foreign actors that would love to see one. That’s why I’ve repeatedly warned the Russian collusion crowd they should look at things from more than one angle. If we keep letting politicians and media make decisions for us there probably will be a civil war.

I don’t want one. I struggle to learn a little Spanish, I don’t want to learn Mandarin.

California is far from being the only state unlikely to abscond that is engaged in agriculture, of course, and agriculture alone sustains no nation on earth, but the fantasy of any states abandoning the union is silly.

No state, no matter how alienated from the US, does not have a significant percentage of its populace who would tolerate the radicals attempting it.

As I noted, any state setting the precedent of seceding should expect loyal Americans within that state to secede from it.

not the loonies that are salivating over a Civil War and are trying to prove how great their fantasy country will be.

 

Is that how you defend the quest for other people's crap?

 

Maybe they they should just give you all their stuff and shut up.

 

A few observations:

1) I see the left still doesn't understand just how Trump won, or just how unpopular they have become in the hinterlands. Twenty Democrats stood on stage and not one of them defended national sovereignty on our southern border, while some 85% of the US wants immigration controlled, including a majority of Hispanics. The left is represented by a lesbian who stomped on the US flag after winning a soccer game representing the US. Main Street Americans will despise her for that, but the left sees nothing wrong with it. The left is represented by someone who took down a US flag at an ICE facility and raised a Mexican one. Main Street Americans will despise whoever did that, but the left sees nothing wrong with it. The left are alienating Main Street Americans while claiming to be defending American values, and they don't see it.

2) China isn't in any position to take over the US, even in the event of a civil war. No doubt China would use the opportunity to expand into vulnerable areas in Asia, but they are in no position to try to throw their weight around in North America.

3) The left doesn't get just how serious this is. Even just a discussion of civil war would have been unimaginable as recently as the 1980s. Now discussion of civil war has become a mainstream topic on YouTube and elsewhere. The right is taking this seriously and is looking for peaceful solutions and gearing up in case peaceful solutions fail. Other than Antifa, no one on the left is taking this seriously. But it is serious.

4) The left doesn't get that they are the ones pushing us into civil war. They seem to be blaming all those backwards hillbilly white people for wanting to keep America white, capitalist, and free, and failing to understand that it's the left pushing for America to be brown, socialist, and slave that are the problem here, not the right. If you want to live in a brown, socialist, slave country, move to Venezuela.

 

Most conservatives aren’t involved in fuster clucks like this forum. Neither are most Liberals or progressives or Libertarians or greens. I don’t think this forum is a very good indicator of who would be involved in a civil war or why.

I certainly don’t think reading someone’s posts on a forum or Twitter tells you how they will behave when the chips are down, or they are hungry, or they feel their children are in danger.

Just my opinion.

 

Just a friendly reminder that the only winner of a new American civil war would be America's enemies. They would be involved in starting it, exacerbating it and fully exploiting it for their own (further) gain. Untold numbers of Americans would suffer and die for no good reason at all, just because a bunch allowed themselves to be self-radicalized into barbarous morons who imagined it would be a good idea to kill their fellow Americans over delusions of patriotism and "defending" something against an imagined threat.

Thats pretty much what I've been saying. We already have a constitution, individual rights and national sovereignty. Lets just keep those instead of having a war over them.

I wish. I think most conservatives are watching football... they should be internet warriors fighting to protect their rights in the marketplace of ideas so they don't ever have to decide whether to fight for them on a battlefield.

 

The topic is very adolescent. But considering the difference between Republican activists versus Democrats there is significant disparity. All the large demonstrations are overwhelmingly liberals. When racists try to march [ie Portland] they are greatly outnumbered. During the Iraq war there were huge protest demonstration across the nation. Bush was burned in effigy and cities were nearly shut down by the sheer number of protesters. Republicans tend to be terrorists either solo or in small groups put down quickly by authorities.

 

Only in your world does your response makes sense.

Whether the nebulous, amorphous boogieman contrived by ideological media entertainers is supposed to be 1) the majority of American voters who voted against Trump in 2016, 2) the majority of Americans who consistently disapprove of Trump in survey after survey, 3) The majority of Americans who voted in the "blue wave" election of 2018, 4) the majority of Americans who consistently indicate they prefer a Democratic candidate to a Republican candidate in a congressional generic ballot, or refers to some other, more arcane metric, some folks like to fixate upon this confection of theirs they call "the left" without defining whom it is they obsess over.

In order to supply the identity and dispel the enduring mystery, I've arbitrarily decided that it must be that dude down the street named "Herb" who smiles and flashes a "peace sign" every time he drives past in his old Volvo.

Anyone mystified by who that oft-cited, ill-defined, perennial bête noire might be is welcome to share my "Herb."
