At least I offer proof for what I shovel. Quite unlike my opposition.

Good examples of the abridging or perversion of the purpose of free speech that prevents our democratic potential from focusing and using the principles of the republic in voting.

Media is conducting treason against the people and constitution on the most fundamental level.

Weird, we say the same crap about todays wacko left and the democrat party. the POO (party of Obama) has become even more sh*tty in the last few years, and are so far left they the vast majorty of the country can't even relate to them anymore. The left has gone completely bonkers with their free stuff for everyone, throw the borders open, redistributing everyone's wealth, and disarming the public.

Oh, OK, I understand now. I am the same way. I see it as the way liberals and conservatives think versus the way I think. Being a fence-sitting Libertarian I always twist and turn and observe a topic. Really dig into it, look at it from all sides. Like you, my review of the data keeps me from those emotional outbursts. I always feel better knowing that I am smarter and better informed than others. You know what I mean. Nudge nudge, wink wink.

So long as people approach such issues from a sanctimonious perspective and refuse to acknowledge that they are every bit as much to blame for the divisiveness, it will continue. I think that to a large degree, we actually enjoy being confrontational.

Since you are blasting me, I arrived with credentials as both a former long term Democrat and a present Republican who has explained why I left the party I came to loathe. Why did I believe to stay a Democrat, I was part of the criminal class?
    This is why
    1. Various Democrats wars
    2. Fact I learned who is responsible for the majority of laws since FDR in 1933. I felt this ration of laws were created to take away our freedom. One instance is Dodd Frank law. Second is health care. The Feds have no business forcing this nation to submit to Democrats as to our health care. No business laying waste to us on taxes. Sure, a proper amount, perhaps in the 5 percent range would be fine. But not what we currently pay including local, state and Federal. Far too much is taken by the nuts running government.

This is how bullies explain it to their victims. If you refused to whine, I would not bully you.

Oh yeah? Stop the bullying and no need to whine.

cd8ed.. the left has not, and will not accept Trump as president.

Everything they say and do revolves around Trump, not the issues.

This forum has changed drastically since Obama won his first election. Sure, there was opposition to the direction he advocated taking the country, but the discussion was about policies. Heated at times, and the random birther nonsense. But nothing on this forum is what has been witnessed by the left after Trump won.

We are past simple policy discussions, it's completely ideological at this point with one side pitted against the other. I believe this was intentional.

Um... youth has always been liberal.

Once they start making their own money, risk their efforts, and try to grow their wealth, they transition to more conservative.

You do realize that most of the current boomers who you view as "right wing", were the ones riding around in volkswagon Van's, smoking weed and taking opioids, and attending woodstock... right?

If your plan is to "wait it out" your going to be sorely disappointed when you peers start to transition.

I'm 40 and a Gen X. I would say my generation is pretty split, but each decade seems more and more people align more conservative. Anecdotal, sure.

Look, some day when you are older, some young tike is going to be lecturing you about how it's unfair to have to eat mac and cheese from a box while attending free college, and once a week you owe them a steak dinner.

That is not what the data shows. With boomers, the percentage of liberal leaning individuals has remained rather constant. There has been a slight uptick in conservatives, but the addition comes from independents, not from liberals switching sides. I’m a liberal and have been so all my life. I just can’t imagine ever turning into a conservative.

Twenty years ago or so, when states were beginning to legalize medical marihuana, I used to tell everyone that once my dad’s generation began to die off, marihuana would become legal. Then my dad died, just eight days before the election that legalized recreational marihuana.

I’m a sixty year old liberal. My son, who is in his thirties is also quite liberal, as is his circle of friends. He makes considerably more than I ever did and invites me over for gourmet meals.

If you mean you vote for Democrats, and I am 81, that does not define you as a Liberal at all. Democrats can never assume the title of Liberal.

This is a tangled web of deceit. Even if one does not so intend.

Try this, rephrase using the names of your political parties. I can't discuss when others slip into terms that are not agreed on. I can agree on various things couched as Democrats believe or Republicans believe.

"NATO is in the throes of “brain death” and European countries can no longer rely on the US to defend its allies,"French president, Emmanuel Macron, said..

Among many other factors this was a direct consequence of Trump's decision to abandon an important ally in Syria, prompting uncoordinated aggressive action by another NATO ally, Turkey, in an area where our interests are at stake, namely, the Mideast and its oil.

Trump could be impeached before Christmas. Unfortunately, the Framers never imagined a President like Trump, and so they did not include incompetence in their grounds for impeachment, only "Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."

That said, if the House impeaches and if the Senate removes Trump -- not likely under current circumstances -- it would be good riddance to an incompetent President.

Allow me to illustrate with a few examples, in a matter of speaking, the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

Trump Mideast policy is so favorable to Israel, the U.S. can no longer be trusted. The U.S. has been tossed out as a Mideast broker, replaced by Russia.

After a year and a half of Trump's trade war with China, Wall Street is finally recovering because it appears that the tariffs Trump caused are going to be removed. Millions of dollars were lost during that year and a half period.

Iran is closer to making a nuke. Why? Because in May 2018, Trump removed the U.S. from a working agreement with Iran called the JCPOA that permanently barred Iran from making a nuke. Iran has resumed her nuclear research, destroyed the largest oil refinery on the planet, seized and mined ships, and even shot down a very expensive American aircraft all because of Trump's incomprehensible decision and his harsh economic sanctions.

Trump is anti-Earth. He is removing the U.S. from the Paris Accord, joining thirteen other nations who have not signed the accord, some, like Iran and Turkey, are the largest emitters. He appoints EPA directors who are disenchanted with EPA policies. His appointments are industry friendly, kind of like the fox in the hen house scenario.

Trump's policies with respect to NATO, Ukraine, Turkey, the Assad regime in Syria, and the Middle East strongly favor Russia. Trump has never admitted that Russia interfered in our 2016 election, and he is severely critical of our intelligence agencies and the FBI.

In short, Trump gives new meaning to the term, incompetence.

Perhaps a simple answer. Over the last 40 years or so one of our major parties has continued to move right while the other left. There basically is no middle anymore. No common ground. Both parties have become ideologues for their specific ideology, philosophy if you will.

Did I? And you did not so much ask why they became the party I loathed? After generations of my adoring them, why I changed my entire belief? That made your point?
