What are the odds the mayor would be singing the same tune if the eventual Democratic nominee holds a rally in Minneapolis? Or does "prepay" only apply to Trump?

Probably yes because It is his campaign rallies that have left behind a string of cities he has failed to reimburse!!!

Without looking into the various details for specifics, here's something you know is true-
Let's say a sports tournament comes to town, bringing in tens of thousands of people. This mayor, like any other, would be bragging about all the revenue those visitors would be bringing to the city, spending on hotels, restaurants, and a host of things. No complaints about the extra police overtime, just pat themselves on the back for bringing traffic and revenue. Baseball, bowling, national dog show- they don't care.

But when it's political and that mayor hates the brand of politics- the story is different. Nothing changes except what the event is about, and that shifts the attitude of such a politician. Double standard being used as a political tools.

Frey barred off-duty officers from wearing uniforms to the event. Why? Afraid people would see that Minneapolis police back Trump? Try and come up with any other reason that makes sense.
Frey tried to charge Trump $530,000 for "security and other costs to the city", basing that on the cost of hosting the super bowl, and the Final Four.... things they fight and subsidize to get, not try to extort.
There is no question Frey's politics play a role here.

The HILL had an article a while ago showing the Dirty Donald campaign had at least TEN CITIES claiming his campaign owed them money including Mesa Az.,Erie Pa. and GreenBay Wisc.totaling at least $841,219.He is practicing the exact same corrupt tactics he showed in his business life.

No, but you can't prove they do.

Lady Gaga isn't paying for the police department to do patrol the Comcast Center.....the police are there because that's where the risk is. Just like when Black Lives Matter puts on a protest outside of Ferguson Town Hall....

Yes, they may hire their own event staff, but they aren't paying the police department

    Why should he? Obama didn't.

In hundreds of recent clips of Democrat politicos being asked about impeachment more than half said it was important because Trump cannot have a second term. Rep Al Green (D-Texas) admitted publicly that impeachment is the only way Democrats can win in 2020. The Democrats were talking up impeachment before Trump was sworn in as president -- when constitutional impeachment was a physical impossibility. So if you do not know that impeachment is primarily a 2020 campaign strategy, you get a couple more chances at know. And I and many other taxpayers are paying for all these impeachment inquiries and efforts.

There were TWO instances where cities went after Obamas campaign for non payment of incurred police protection charges, one by Springfield Illinois for 2008, and later one by Newport Beach California.Dirty Donald already has way more than ten such delinquent bill claims.

The alternative is cities wash their hands of all political rallies and not supply any law enforcement to these events let the chips fall where they may.

There wouldn't be any problems. Just hire security for the venue, and the cops are already paid to do their job to keep the peace. If some nutters want to protest, well... it wouldn't be advisable.

Yeh right Trump should pay nearly a hundred time what Obama ever paid.

You made the claim, and folded when challenged to prove it.

Epic fail, and not your first.

Do you seriously believe that a clear policy would make any difference to Donald Trump?

Sounds like you would be fine if he's "president for life" like the petty dictators in those countries he calls sh!tholes. That is not how America works, thankfully. If he can't follow our laws, and thinks those laws don't apply to him, then runnung for president was a big mistake for Trump on a personal level.

It's always amusing when his core followers refer to him as a victim. It's exactly what he wants you to believe. Good job.

Exact amounts and clear policies would make no difference to Trump. He still would not pay unless forced to do so, and good luck with that.

I call bee ess on that. What we're paying for is for congress to quit worrying about keeping their jobs and actually do their jobs, which is to impeach an unlawful president in accordance with our constitution.

I don't see impeachment as a 2020 campaign strategy at all. One of the reasons Pelosi waited so long is worry over more than a few freshman Democrats in the House who represented districts that previously went for Trump. She was sublimating the constitution and the rule of law for the sake of political expediency, which was shameful IMO. Impeachment proceedings should have started when the Mueller Report was released to the public.

All of that is off topic and beside the point. You can't prove your claim that Dems hold campaign rallies at taxpayer expense because they simply don't do that. An abstract idea that supposedly proves your claim fails completely, besides being utter whataboutism.

ROFLMAO! Wow, another empty threat from Trumpsterland. That guy really has his base enthralled, but judging by the many videos I've seen of the people in line to attend his rallies, that isn't surprising.

Other cities have equally or very close charges to Minneapolis they claim Dirty Donald and his campaign rallies owe them.
