The 1% are not the job creators, a myth of the right.
They are investors who want corps to increase profits. A way to do that is to suppress wages.

Thank you. Sadly I suspect that those who most need to understand it are the ones least likely to do so.

Trump tried to stir up a civil war when Obama won, he will probably do it when Trump loses in 2020 too, I honestly think Trump will be one of the worst losing President in history

I'm 48, no degrees and have spent the last 20 years in the sport fishing industry on the west coast. My body's too worn out for labor, trade or construction and my only area of knowledge is fishing. We moved here to be close to my wife's sister and away from all the fir trees my wife was allergic to.
Been here since January. Employers here won't give me the time of day. Made 20.50 back in the northwest. I'll probably have to take min wage here.

No one to blame for my situation but myself.

Trump if anything is left of Say Bush jr.
Trump isn't a conservative and only barely a Republican. I am however thankful for him andvhis victory in 2016 because Hillary was that bad and 2020 Democrats? Worse than her.

"Congratulations. Without understanding how or why you provided a PERFECT example of how & why America is divided - the pathological need to blame the 'other' for what is wrong. It isn't Obama or Trump or Bush or the Clintons or Fox or CNN or Democrats or Republicans or Liberals or Conservatives. It is YOU. It is your fault & the fault of everyone whose first reaction to the question you posed is to blame someone else.

America is divided because Americans have decided to divide themselves. Americans have decided not to associate with people who disagree with them. Americans have decided not to listen to each other or respect each other. Americans have decided to only consume information that tells them what they want to hear. Americans have chosen to ignore any & all wrong doing by their designated tribe while magnifying the slightest wrongdoing, real or imagined, by the 'other'.

Worst of all, Americans point blank refuse to take responsibility for their own actions. It is always the fault of the 'other side'. 'They' started it. 'They' made me do it. 'They', 'they', 'they'. Not a shred of responsibility taken, only blame given. Spend a day on this or any other politics website without ideological blinkers on and you will see people of every persuasion doing it.

Not all Americans are like this, of course, but far too many are and far too few acknowledge it is even a problem. Want to understand the problem? Look in the mirror. Then look at anyone who agrees with you. Then work out from there. You can choose to be different or you can choose to keep behaving the same way. That is where the division of America begins & that is how it ends. Your choice."

You say; "The pathological need to blame the 'other' for what is wrong." Looks to me like YOU are the one who doesn't get it. I voted for President Trump because I was tired of hearing the same bullshit that all
politicians were making. Before he was sworn in the left was talking about impeaching him. Marches in the streets, and a threat of blowing up the White House. From day one, the left wanted to eliminate the man
that I voted for. When I look into the mirror I see a man who has been around for nearly seventy years. I know what America should be like, and it doesn't come close to what the left is wanting.

This started with Obama. White conservatives had known, in an intellectual way, that their days were numbered. Obama drove it home. From that point on, the Right collectively lost it's mind and went down a rabbit hole of Birtherism and conspiracy theory nonsense culminating in Trump- the Republican version of Bill Clinton, only far far dumber. Why did Trump appeal to (mostly) white people? Because he hates brown people.

That's the dividing line, and it's as old as the country: racism. Those that practice it, vs. the rest of us, who are looking at this trainwreck in horror.

Sorry, but the DNC presented the worst POTUS candidate in history- HRC. And the US voter was left with selecting from the worst candidate to the 2nd worst candidate. 2nd worst candidate won.

Oh pray tell, what happened to Jim Webb?

From the looks of it, the DNC is going to offer up another worst candidate of all time for 2020. Racism has nothing to do with it.

I've said this for a long time. Trump hates the right people, and his acolytes don't care about ANYTHING else. They think that the US is a part of the Hearth of the "Master Race" and should become part of that Fascist Empire. The DOI and Constitution are feckless impediments to our real destiny and should be swept aside, along with the weak-willed concepts of Liberty and Freedom in particular

Willya stawp. Hillary was many disagreeable things, a total policy wonk and as charismatic as a Yellow Taxi but she would have been nothing even approaching the true horror and existential threat to the USA that is in there now and I don't see how any rational person who examines her record vs what Trump has done can say any different. You are swallowing the worst campaign of calumny I have ever seen directed at one person hook, line and sinker and I can only hope you like being a poor fish.

The very first thing you did when starting a thread about why America is so divided is blame the 'other guy'. Now you are doubling down. What you see in the mirror is THE PROBLEM. You and millions like you, left and right, who are so obsessed with hating people who disagree with you that you simply cannot and will not see that your hate is what drives the division.

There are other ways to disagree and there are other way to contest ideas. Ways that aren't so divisive. You clearly have no interest in them. You are no different to the people on the left you hate. Same anger, same divisive politics, same result, different wrapper. Its all about anger & self-centeredness masquerading as some sort of ideology or patriotism.

And, of course, there is the complete & utter unwillingness to take responsibility. Like I said, it is always someone else's fault.

I get it more than you apparently ever will.

Oh, and learn to use the 'quote' and 'reply' functions. It isn't that hard.

THIS is why America is so divided. Too many think that the Constitution is an impediment and that it should be "swept aside" and that liberty and freedom are "weak-willed concepts". Here is your true fascist. Here is the type of person that wants to control your every move. Your every thought. And if you don't agree then you need to be swept aside as well.

I think there are a couple good things about him, they have mixed results .

I like that he doesn't take crap from his opponents. This doesn't always play well but Republicans for the last couple decades have been push overs who won't stand their ground even though they've had more principled reasons than Trump has had.

He is independent, he isn't closely tied to either party.. if it weren't for his personality he could probably get a lot done.

Ageism is real i can tell you that but i don't blame employers for that. Actually there is quite a bit of work in the cannabis industry but i refuse to be a part of that.

The reason the united states is so divided, is the simple fact it is basic human nature. The human species does not look for unity, it seeks out division. It is driven by differences to allow for an "us against them" mentality to thrive, as it has done since its inception. The species is obsessed with finding differences and excuses to justify strife and killing itself off through whatever means. If matters of politics and religion did not exist to fuel hostility, matters such as height and eye color would serve just as well in their place.

You are incorrect. It's started back in 1988 when Rush Limbaugh hit the airwaves and gave right wing extremists a louder voice than party moderates.
