    Thanks. Best wishes to her.

I was beginning to think the math wasn’t adding up and we should be seeing cases in people we know. As of last night we didn’t have any confirmed in my county, but a couple in each of two neighboring counties.

Can't say about your math, but there's a likely profile of who might spread it the most. Unsurprisingly, they are racists and hatemongers.

You have no idea who was and wasn't exposed on the ship. It's likely that anyone actually exposed will get it and react with different levels of severity and some will be naturally immune.

Yeah, people who are full of hate and people who are always negative aren't cool. Not cool at all.

They publish numbers of confirmed cases only, that's all they have.
They don't approximate any number that would be useful in calculating the time constant or RO.

That's what I'm trying to say.
The real number of infections has to be many many millions.
That's what flu numbers are every year over the same time frame, and according to the histrionics, this spreads so much faster. The death rate is nowhere near one percent. And the 0.1% flu death rate is for estimated cases not confirmed cases, so the rate for confirmed cases only would be much higher.

That's cuz you're now testing many more people than that, in short order
That is a better measure of what already exists, not how fast it's spreading

I think the only real way to stop this virus is by backtracking.
If someone is feeling ill, than test.If they test positive, than a background check
of all Likely contacts has to be made.In the least, that wil diminish the
authority of this pandemic.Consider this like an outbreak of
Legionnaires Disease.Which did respond to antibiotics where
Coronavirus does not.But the actual source is the most pressing problem.

Nobody talks about it because everyone is all wrapped up in the testing aspect, but South Korea publicly posted the histories (the times people were at specific places) of positive testing individuals. No names, but every movement by a positive individual that had potential to spread the virus was listed for all to see. Doubt it would fly here in the US but I think that is as responsible for their success as the testing.

They should write in a special law to cover this with a dedicated special punishment

Law could be title “Being an absolute dick in tones of crisis” and punishment - lets bring back the stocks with added honey and ant nests

Exactly. The "it's not that bad," crowd is missing this critical component.

Public shaming is the way to go.
Did you see trump’s latest press rant? The guy is really starting to lose it.
The cabinet should grow a set and invoke the 25th amendment before he does more damage.

retired rv'ers having a hard time finding places to park as the government closing down overnight parking at parks, not smart as now these elderly folk have to travel all over the place to find somewhere to stay and they have no homes as they are full time rv'ers living their retirement dreams

    Nope.

Liberals are opportunists. As far as "public shaming" goes, there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Such as everyone should be able to be tested, but not everyone needs to be tested; if your symptoms are bad, go to the hospital, but don't go to the hospital because you'll overcrowd it and perhaps spread the disease; social distancing, social distancing, but since everyone probably has it whether they show symptoms or not, you've most likely got it already anyway (but you don't need to be tested), stay home, except to go to the store, the pharmacy, the farmers market (Gov. Newsome), or anywhere else you feel you must go, etc. etc. etc. Therefore, everyone must take the precautions that make sense to them. All "public shaming" does is make a bad situation worse and get us at each other's throats. But hey, if that could be blamed on Trump, it's a good thing, right?

if what we are doing is working the growth should start to reduce in speed, otherwise we will be at about 450k infected by the end of the month

Well see that's the issue. "No one is immune" was what we were told for weeks. So it's now, "some will be naturally immune?"

I've been admitting that throughout this thread, so help me out.

If today we have 32,580 known cases, and those cases are increasing exponentially, how many cases will we have 7 days from now?

Exponential doesn't refer to a specific multiplier or time frame. It's referring to the shape of the curve.

Think of compound interest - that's exponential.
