Why Can't The Pope Be A Woman?

I know there is no good answer to this one, but, why not?

 

Because it requires being "ordained", and women are barred from being so. If we have any Catholics on the Forums please explain the Churchs' reasoning on that and whether you agree with it or not.

 

I knew there wasn't a good answer but an answer none the less.

 

I think it is a tradition. The pope is the apostolic successor to Saint Peter, Saint Peter was a man and after a few hundred years the tradition was established. Women should not complain - a man cannot be queen.

A man can be Queen, it's called a King when that happens.

 

Can't see why not....nowadays a little scalpel work solves that "problem".

 

The short answer is that the rules were written by men for men. Despite advancements in just about every other field, the church remains antiquated in their "our private club" business.

Probably the same reason Mary Magdelene was portrayed as a prostitute and her gospel not included in the bible. Women were early means of producing capital before fossil fuels and factories were a thing. Women produced more ability to do work, so became property to be owned, like a factory. You can't let the means of producing wealth make it's own decisions! At least thats what I think the reason is.

Hmmm, I looked up the wikipedia article real quick. It seems to have been mostly dismissed as legend, but that could just be because the church decided to bury the truth. Interesting stuff though.

 

Yes, women can work like slaves for the church(cleaning, flower arranging, wiping up behind slob priests, do the accounts, etc., etc., ), support it with their money, ….all that the Church greedily accepts.....but they do not consider women "as good" as someone with a penis.....even when that penis is used to rape little boys....

Strike 1.
The lie of life after death.
We know that Jesus never rose from the grave and there is no luxury in the clouds waiting for us post mortem.
We know that when something is dead it's no longer alive - expecting us to renounce what we know to be true is a way of submission to control your life.

Strike 2.
The virgin birth.
We know it takes conception between a man and a woman to make life - expecting us to ignore what we know to be true is a way to force you into submission so it can control a follower.

If the devil is the father of all lies, then do not trust those who spout such humongous lies as life after death and a virgin giving birth.
But since it says the devil is the father of all lies, then that means the devil is the father of truth.

Strike 3.
No meat on Friday but you can eat fish because meat from the sea isn't meat.

After strike 3, I know there is no good reason why a Pope can't be a woman, that's not to say there's not a reason, but coming from the same people who lie and sin against nature; any reason why there can't be women popes cannot be a good one.

The best answer from Catholics is that different genders have different functions. So it serves an important symbolic function, that the actual priest is the male gender.

As for Paul's recommendation, it probably had to do with some wisdom about how women generally are. That's not to say there might not be some women who would be better for the task than some men, but in general women tend to have certain attributes that Paul saw as potentially being damaging in that role.
Since Paul is considered one of the doctors of the Church, his wisdom on this can't just be completely dismissed.

 

Also, right now would be a really really bad time to have a female pope, because Saint Malachy's prophecy suggests this may be the last pope, and if there is a female pope that succeeds him, there will be connotations of her being "The whore of Babylon". Well, at least until she occupies the position long enough and the world does not end.

(okay, some of this post is a little whacky, but some will see that as having validity)

I mean, the Vatican should have got the memo that the church isn't the state anymore; so really, no one actually has to listen to them.

Look, the very position of pope is a hierarchical position. You're not going to get that so-called "equality" you desire whether it's a man or a woman.
