Then show me where Hosea says Jesus, and where Jesus sacrifices to idols etc. The whole chapter refers .to the supposed exit of Israel from Egypt and if you read it through you will see that.

Well, you're certainly not. . Margot is right. Matthew uses several OT scriptures which refer to OT events - not NT events. And Luke had litttle idea of the Nativity or Palestinian geography. Historically the Acts is fairly accurate Though he makes an error in his account of Pauls escape and journeyings after Pauls conversion. Paul has to correct the account later.

Yet, you're not a Christian or a Bible believer, but you're recommending Bible schools. You're a troll.

So you believe the Apostle Paul's Epistles? Cool. When did you become a Christian?

Christians don't have to be ignorant... and they don't have to settle for crappy Bible colleges. Surely, that isn't a requirement for your church.

I assume you are quoting me (although why you didn't use the quote feature is a mystery)

So ,do you think everyone who doesn't speak English should be hit with an umbrella...?? WTF !

I haven't lead a sheltered life and am sorry if you were hit for not speaking English.....it's a really ignorant teaching "tool".

Yes, I can tell that both of you have learned to not trust in God's Word and have learned to put your faith in your own understanding, something that the God's word warns us not to do.

Then so were almost all parents and grandparents of that time. Smacking a kid for doing something wrong was the norm when I was young. Judging people who lived back then by today's standards is silly.

    Ok. My bad.
Still, that sort of thing was a normal part of most cultures when I was young. Holding people of the past accountable for today's way of seeing things doesn't make sense.

Well, as you ask I attended my first Sunday School during WWII and became Christian around 1955 and went on later to preach many sermons, ran a church, gave Bible studies and preached in various church denominations in my area. My Bible studies - which included studying ancient culture, history etc of the Middle East, Judaism etc led me to see that the Bible was just a book with some myth, some wisdom and some history. The OT was written by men - mostly around the 7th century BCE. Written by Hebrews for Hebrews. The NT was written over a period of 100 years after the Jewish preacher - Jesus - died in 28CE. Written mostly by unknown people over a period. Some written by Paul and a few apostles. Pauls Epistles are partly his own doctrine and that of Greek Philosophers. Many of his sayings were already in circulation and he adapted them and some of the OT teachings. Paul had been taught Greek Philosophy as well as Judaism by Gamaliel.

Todays Christianity is Pauls version. If you study Judaism and Jesus teaching it is mainly Judaic. The Gospel writers put words into Jesus mouth that would have turned people away from him at the time. The fact that they wrote long after his death meant they could get away with it. Jesus baptism under John was in line with Judaism, His 'supposed' temptation by Satan was in line with Judaism. Jews believe that Satan is a servant of Jahweh. His charge is to test peoples faith. Job passed. Jesus passed - if you believe the story. We have no evidence. It was a story by Matthew to make Jesus acceptable. The Beatitudes are from the OT. Most of his parables come from the OT relationship between Jahweh and his people - the Jews.

The Bible is not the word of 'God'. Study proves that.

    I am now agnostic.

US Bible colleges give you Glenn Beck. Poorly educated, no critical thinking skills, no study of ancient history.. We do have some excellent Divinity Schools.

You became Christian or you were forced into it. There’s a huge difference.
You don’t seem to believe anything about the Bible , and without fail defend Muslims.

Why would I be forced into Christianity? I was a child going to Sunday School and Church and Vacation Bible School.. I just studied like an adult when I became an adult. Its been a lifelong pursuit and a fascinating one. Of course I no longer believe that Jonah was swallowed by a fish.

I defend Saudi Arabia and Muslims because I know a lot about them.. and most of their detractors don't.

Why would you think I'm afraid to read Isaiah and Hosea? I've read them many times. I believe them. You don't.
