Reagan bought fully into the failure to enforce certain immigration laws, as did every president after him from both sides.

Why are you posting such nonsense? We all know it is not a lie.

Where was the border security in that bill.

Why can't congress simply follow the actual law that provides for the border to be sealed off from Mexico that was created around 2006?

Why can't Congress just abide by and enforce existing refugee laws?

“We fully expect that this betrayal of the American public will be dead on arrival in the House. Thankfully, the House has made it clear that true immigration reform must protect the interests of the American people. FAIR expects to work with members of the House to ensure that legislation coming out of that body provides a workable plan to secure our borders, enforce immigration laws in the interior of the country, and protect American jobs and tax dollars.”

Oh you called them refugees. I believe on the books is a specific law that covers them. Enforcement is the duty of the Trump admin and he seems to me as doing the best he can.

Gang of Eight Operates was the “Gang of No”

Senate Gang of Eight leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has repeatedly suggested he welcomes changes to the Gang of Eight’s “comprehensive” immigration reform bill, claiming the Gang supports an “open and fair” amendment process. Despite repeated public proclamations that the bill is “bipartisan” and that the Gang is committed to improving the amnesty bill, S. 744, they have killed every substantive amendment that would strengthen enforcement and border security.

This orchestrated effort to defeat all amendments that actually require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to secure the border clearly demonstrates that the “Gang of Eight” is really the “Gang of No” when it comes to border security.

From the outset of the full Senate amendment process, the “Gang of No” abandoned the façade of an “open and fair” amendment process in favor of their amnesty-first, enforcement-maybe agenda. In fact, the Senate rejected by a 57-43 vote on Sen. Chuck Grassley’s (R-IA) border security amendment—the first amendment offered on the Senate floor—that would have prohibited the DHS Secretary from granting amnesty to illegal aliens until DHS has maintained effective control of the border for at least six months. Predictably, all four Republicans in the Gang of Eight voted “No” on both of these amendments.

And, in two telling votes, the Gang of Eight led the opposition against two amendments that would have simply required DHS to follow current law. Senator John Thune’s (R-SD) amendment to require the construction of half of the 700 miles of reinforced, double-layered fencing along the Southern border—as required by the Secure Fence Act—before granting amnesty was defeated 39-54. Senator David Vitter’s (R-LA) amendment that would prohibit illegal aliens from getting any legal status until a biometric entry-exit system is in place at every land, sea, and air port of entry—known as US-VISIT—was also defeated 36-58.

As demonstrated by its own voting record, the Gang of Eight has unequivocally shown it will stand firm against any attempt to actually enhance border security and interior enforcement. Instead of being receptive to a transparent process to improve the bill, the Gang of Eight has doubled down on their amnesty-first, border security-later approach to “comprehensive” immigration reform. Clearly, the Gang of Eight has demonstrated that they are more accurately known as the “Gang of No.”

Thank the lord for google. Democrats fight any border wall. They can't stomach the idea of there being a wall. I wonder how many of them visit the border to learn the true nature and who is getting hurt by the influx of Mexicans? (Mexicans = all of the natives of south of the US Border just for conversation purposes)

It's a well known and documented fact that many are running from out-of-control gangs in some S.A. countries. That makes them refugees and out authorities are fully capable of determining which are refugees and which are just trying to ride the wave to get in. If you looked into it you would know.

Best for them to stop in Mexico then. There they are more accustomed to customs and the language is their.

Americans persist in the myth that Mexico needs to be fled from. I do not understand the low regard Democrats have for Mexico.

Protection costs. Since we have long clearly had the problem,. we have to face up to we must build the wall. I believe it will seriously clamp down on illegals in this country getting in.

Keep in mind, prisons have walls and those do a good job stopping escapes.

About as close as they get to the border is when they encounter seeing this sign, it's as scary as a black scary looking gun to liberals.

Then there's the international issue of American golf balls illegally crossing the border into Mexico.
I saw the two historical markers easily, then went inside to use the bathroom. A sign on the floor said "Do not hit golf balls into Mexico" and I had to smirk. Really, I thought, would someone actually throw their balls into Mexico? "Oh yes" said Adrian, the assistant grounds manager, "We recently had an altercation on hole 6 between two parties. Mexicans were throwing rocks over to our guys and our guys threw golf balls back. The Mexicans then complained to the consulate and an international incident almost happened, but charges were dropped" he said.

Wrong he came to believe later that that signing the amnesty deal was his worst mistake. It only encouraged lawlessness on the border and he never did get the promised improvements to border security that his signing was based on.

comes from 22 million illegals here now and perhaps Hillary's dream of open borders oh and the most recent caravan which , with their liberal allies, wants us to think that they have a right to cross our border and invade our country. Why not, wages for real Americans have not gone up for 30 years; whats the harm of another 30 years?

Duh he wasn't fully on board or he wouldn't have changed his mind. And the only reason he did it in the first place was that Dems made promises they never kept and I don't believe they ever had any intention of keeping.

He SIGNED the amnesty bill and never did anything to stop employers from hiring illegals, illegally. You're struggling to make this lost argument on your part a "win". A man owns up to his weaknesses and losses.
