Yes, we both agree that your asinine strawman was utterly pointless.

The left has more than shown their distain for those countrymen that don't walk in lockstep with them! The elected politicians have no choice, they must follow the same partisan hate as those that will pull the lever in their favor! Clearly the criminals are more inclined to side with their handlers/protectors so the bond is one of servitude or how we cherish a dog, cat or gerbil :) It's all about control for the left, as long as you bow to their egos they will treat you like their DOG ;)

When you are not strong enough to get everything you want you either have to compromise or live with the fact you can't get everything you want.
The conservatives are in the majority, can you think of anything they might do to solve this problem?

How can one post something this ridiculous in the 1st place?

A wall has nothing to do with spending to keep the gov't running either.

Yet our politicians are still getting paychecks.
Why doesn't anyone whine that the party in power, just shut down gov't. But didn't shutdown their own paychecks.

You forget who controls the gov't. Right now it's the RW party.
Any problems with the party in control, is the direct fault of said PARTY in CONTROL. They hold all the cards.

The DACA bill and the wall go together. Neither one belongs on the funding bill

DACA is there because it expires in weeks and Republicans have done nothing about it.

Why is defunding parts of the ACA in there?

Trump created the DACA problem by throwing it at Congress. Congress is doing nothing to resolve Trump's mess.

Dems are putting it on the Forefront before it expires. Can't trust Republicans even though 80 % of Americans want DACA to stay.

Adding in the wall is on Trump........

Wrong. Republicans worked with democrats but democrats don’t want a bipartisan bill because their base wants a shutdown instead. That’s why they pulled this stunt. They still have 6 weeks to work on DACA.

What happens, you get a comment you don't like so you call it 'off subject'? The title of your thread has 'Military' in it and I was discussing the presidents lack of concern for our military.

Where it belongs instead of an unconstitutional EO that Obama’s said he couldn’t do legally before he did it.

Now for reality and the truth.

How The Military Is Affected By The Government Shutdown

President Obama signed a bill ensuring members of the military will be paid during the government shutdown, but here are some other effects of the shutdown.

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, Democrat from Illinois, says soldiers need intelligence to carry out their missions but the CIA, like other government agencies, is losing employees due to the shutdown.

"All DoD work will stop on weapons and equipment maintenance not directly related to war, bases will not be maintained and we will see a degradation of facilities," he said. "You'll see massive disruptions all across this country." While the Defense Department will continue to operate with service members and essential employees after a shutdown, Durbin said a gap in funding would "cripple our intelligence community." "We rely on their agencies to warn us of threats, to prevent terrorist attacks and inform leaders making critical national security decisions," he said.

About 400,000 civilians, including tens of thousands in California, would be furloughed and would be paid retroactively only after congressional approval, according to the Los Angeles Times. The Department of Homeland Security is planning to furlough just less than 14% of its employees.

Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the home of the 82nd Airborne Division, plans to put about 38% of its civilian workforce on furlough if the shutdown goes forward, Bragg officials said Monday.

Weapons and equipment maintenance will shut down, military intelligence operations would stop and training for most of the reserve force would be put on hold, he said. And any National Guard forces heading out to do weekend training duty around the country will arrive at armories and be told to go home......snip~

    Correct.
Yet both are in the funding bill.
Remove daca, remove wall. I bet it passes. R's have all the power. They didn't even get 51 R votes.

    This.

From what I have been told many of the civilian contractors that run our garrison facilities will not be attending work tomorrow if no resolution is met. I don't know which ones specifically but many will not be there. As far as we are personally concerned at our garrison, all logistics are suspended involving ammo and fuel. What we have on hand is what we have for now, so no weapons ranges, vehicle operations, etc. Not sure about maintenance. I believe maintenance that can be done by Soldiers themselves will continue but higher maintenance involving contractors will be suspended obviously if they aren't there to conduct it.

We still report for duty obviously (damnit lol) and we are still currently going to be paid through the first of the month. After that I don't believe we will unless something is changed.

So yes this does effect the military. Operations grind to a virtual halt during this whole ordeal meaning limited training can take place. It may not effect our paychecks at this very moment but it does severely impact our ability to do our jobs...

Also, any Military R&D will be suspended. Plus the Army's Aviation unless for Approved Missions. So it definitely affects the Military.

    DT clearly is wrong.

I think a lot of folks just don't understand the complexity of military day to day operations and how much goes into all of this. Folks see that the military is still getting paid and determine that all is well. Doesn't work that way. I'm an Army Aviator, I'll know more about how exactly this effects us tomorrow. I already know of how it will effect us via the civilian contractors that we rely heavily on, I'm not sure how many of them will be deemed mission essential and show up to work tomorrow. But if we can't fly due to fuel limitations then that is going to hurt, and I mean bad.

I'm not trying to exaggerate for dramatic effect, but they seriously couldn't have picked a worse time to shutdown the government for us...This week was critical for us to get a lot of stuff done that we have been so behind on.

Thinking about it I have changed my mind about when I will decide to get pissed off. If what happens tomorrow when I walk into work is what I think will happen then it's going to cause me a huge ass headache for the foreseeable future involving the limited time off I already get to be taken away going forward because we are so far behind that we NEED to operate this week.

In layman's terms, I'm going to be working long(er) hours and probably on the weekends whenever this fiasco ends because we may very well lose this critical week that we NEED. Yes I retract my previous statement, I will be pissed off tomorrow morning if I walk into work and hear that crap lol.

    Example of Republican fear mongering.

No one is saying Democrats want this. Schumer went to strike a deal with Trump, no deal was made. The effort to blame Dems in a Republican majority is apparent.

Apparently according to official sources the military is in fact NOT being paid during this shutdown. Military pay ceased on Jan 19th. Not sure where the Feb 1 stuff came from but official sources say that we are not being paid. Banks like USAA usually pay servicemembers anyway regardless of the shutdown though.

Again, posted in the form of a leading question as if the mythic belief of the OP had any truth to it.

Please re-write your question in a neutral manner, then state a thesis, and then back up your claim with evidence.
