Why don't men want the Covid vaccines? How should we reach them?

Again, I respect and acknowledge your right to this opinion. I'm just saying, I approach the problem from a different standpoint, and while lamenting their poor choices, I still feel that it is important to try to reach out to them the best we can, for everybody's good.

 

Yes, there was a study in Israel quantifying exactly how many people still got the virus after the vaccines, I quoted it somewhere in my posting history, and I remember that the number dwindled to zero by day 22 after the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. It was a relatively small sample so I'm sure that this zero doesn't hold given that the vaccines have at best a 95% efficacy rate. None of these vaccines are 100% protective. But they are pretty darn protective, and often the people who still get the virus after the vaccine, have a mild case.

There was also a CDC report quantifying the Covid-19 cases after vaccines in the US, and I also quoted it in my posting history. If I recall correctly, 5,800 cases out of several million - resulting in a very tiny percentage.

So the information is available. I don't have it on me right now and I'm too busy to go look for it again, but it is in my posting history and I think you'd be able to get to it by doing some advanced Search using keywords and me as the post author.

Thank you very much. After some search on the CDC site, I found that the CDC calls these cases "Covid-19 vaccine breakthrough cases".

"As of April 20, 2021, 87 million people in the US had been fully vaccinated against Covid-19". CDC so far received reports of such cases from 45 states and territories; 7,157 cases were reported, of which 2,078 asymptomatic, 498 hospitalizations (of which 167 asymptomatic or unrelated to Covid) and 88 deaths (of which 11 unrelated to Covid).
These figures will be updated weekly. CDC suspects a number of cases are not being reported, mostly asymptomatic and mild cases.

 

Yep, sounds right; what I recalled, 5,800 cases, must have been an older piece of data, as these cases will continue to pop up, given that the vaccine is 95% effective; it leaves out 5% of people who may indeed catch the virus (but usually much milder cases).

I know some people want to make this a political issue, but I think it's rather obviously more an issue of culture. I suppose you could call it "toxic masculinity", but again, that hearkens back to making it a political issue. I'd use the word "machismo" to describe the most likely cultural impediment. It's that sense that many men have of the importance of being 'manly' / tough / self-reliant and not needing care / nurturing. This shows up particularly well when looking at the demographic data. Which races are lagging the most in COVID vaccinations? Blacks and Latinos, which coincidentally are the two racial subgroups with the strongest culture of machismo.

How do you break through that? I don't know that you will with any reasonable solution. Somebody on another forum suggested hiring hot escorts to provide blow jobs during the post-vax waiting period. That'd probably do it, but there's no way the powers that be would allow that.

 

As to the thread title, it might become that women will stop taking the shots. With the change in menstrual cycles so many are seeing, news is out.

 

Women tend to be to the Liberal side, and in their 'nurturing' mode will do what is deemed necessary to protect them and theirs, with or without actual consideration for the benefits.

But the interesting thing is, as you mentioned, when they encounter 'side effects', it becomes a whole 'nuther ball game. Overall, the vaccination rate is low, and the government is looking to start actually bribing....excuse me, incentivize receiving the vaccine.

If the statistics are correct, more than half the US population has received the injection by last month. In this case I think the stats are close, as it seems more than half the people I know and work with have received it. Two young women a friend of mine works with have each shed the lining of their uterus a month or so after taking the shot.

Men are less likely in a global manner to see the doctor and are less about self-care.
Men are as far as I know less willing to obey orders.

I'm not sure there is a lot of things to do except not antogonizing them.
