UFO's? Yes, I've always believed they exist. I think it's arrogant to think that planet Earth is the only planet to have life on it in a universe full of hundreds, probably thousands of planets, that stretches into infinity......I find astronomy fascinating.

I also believe in apparitions, spirits. There is more to life than just what a person can see, touch, hear, feel.........

So a trapeze launcher was developed for the F-104 Starfighter and never used operationally but that's not really important because several aircraft were cleared to carry the Genie.

I'm far more interested in a creditable source for the claim that any US military aircraft carrying a nuclear weapon was sent on a mission to engage and/or attempt to shoot down a UFO.

This never happened but it was planned and a very stupid plan it was.

I posted a link for this on another E.T. Topic so I will have to find it again but considering the hysteria the overflights were having it makes sense.

It happened first in 1952 and as I have stated you or any other member can look up the Washington DC Newspaper Headlines as the UFO overflights were in the hundreds and Millions of People saw this and they were more worried these were Highly Advanced Soviet Aircraft that the U.S. Military could not shoot down.

It happened again in the early 1960's and at that time we had several different Nuclear Tipped Air to Air Missiles designed to destroy large wings of incomming Soviet Bear Bombers over the Arctic.

Again...anyone can look up the Media reports.

The reasons for the 1952 E.T. Craft overflights were supposedly in response to the holding or capture of an Alien Life Form....the early 1960's overflights I can only guess but it might have had something to do with the X-15 Flights into Space that were extremely secret and classified and as I posted the X-15 Pilots most likely made it into Space before either the Soviet or American Rocket Programs and several famous X-15 Pilots who recieved their Astronaut Wings that denote a Pilot has been into space back in 2005 which was 50 years after the X-15 Program began in 1955....had told details that when the X-15's entered space they were being observed with great interest by Alien Craft.

199 X-15 Missions are claimed but there were most likely more than that and as the X-15 Missions launched the X-15 Rocket Planes from under a B-52 and then the X-15's entered space only to return and land like the Space Shuttle.....these craft and Pilots may have likely been the first men in space and the Alien activity enough to keep secret the flights and not claim they entered space first.

The only problem with believing that aliens visit Earth is the vast distances of space. It requires faster-than-light-speed travel that our laws of physics says is impossible. It isn't that life, and intelligent life, isn't probably wide-spread in the universe but instead that inter-stellar travel appears to be impossible because of the vast distances between likely planets that could sustain life.

You know, the funny thing about that is all the E.T. had to say was: "Nice Job!" and it would be Classified for life.

While these kinds of encounters are statistically rare, it's been my experience that once it does happen the chances of it happening again jump by leaps and bounds.

You're assuming they made the trip non-stop start to finish. It may have taken them years and they may have established colonys along the way.

True, that's what our law of physics tells us, but I believe what's impossible for us isn't for another form of life that would be way beyond our wildest imagination.....

this suggests that these encounters actually happen as well as that there are statistics about these encounters - i call bs on both, feel free to prove me wrong

sorry to say, but statistically its far more likely that you are delusional

ps: its a fun issue to talk about, but the conviction with which many of the posters in this thread talk about this stuff and talk down to the sceptics here is quite ridiculous; zero prove is just zero prove, until there is prove all this talk about aliens haven visited the earth is nothing more than unlikely conspiracy theories

Actually, I'm delusional too as I had a psychotic break with reality in 2014. I also had amnesia in my teenage years that was after all the E.T. activity happened. And I can't really be sure what's real and what isn't because I can't tell in my pre-amnesia memories. That makes me an unreliable witness.

Such a theory still fails because habitable planets are relatively rare. It's only in the vastness of space with trillions of stars that the statistical probability of life, and advanced life-forms, becomes almost a certainty but it could be in galaxies far, far away and inter-gallactic travel is impossible based upon everything we know.

It took nine years for the New Horizons mission to just reach Pluto and that's inside or our solar system. Yes, it was a chemical rocket that might be considered slow but it was also a tiny probe not requiring a lot of energy to accellerate it from Earth to Pluto. Even with the most highly advanced space engine technology we can imagine it would take tens of thousands of years to reach the closest habitable planet.

The problem remains not just the vast distances but the amount of energy requlred to accellerate mass to the impossible speeds necessary for inter-stellar travel. The only solution I'm aware of is the science fiction proposition of "folding space" where the distance isn't traveled at all. Of course how much energy would it require to actually "fold space" based upon the science fiction model is incalcuable. Makes for good science fiction buy lacks any scientific foundation.

You dismiss the possibility that they are from another dimension. In any case it's all moot. Since they are here, the argument of how it's impossible for them to be here is a meaningless waste of time and words. If you don't believe they exist, then there's no reason for you to join this discussion.

    They Fold or Warp Space-Time.

We know this is possible as any amount of Mass or Energy representing Mass can warp or fold Space-Time.

It's just a huge amount of energy must be generated and probably in more than one Divergent Universal State of Space-Time thus a Cascade Matter/Antimatter Energy Generation must be created.

There have been some experiments related to this but there is one flaw. Not even in the theoretical world of science could a life-form survive the experience. It would be like a person trying to survive the event horizon of a black hole and that's impossible.

Well there are way's of making such a thing survivable.

In Star Trek...and although some people think when a person brings up Star Trek they are talking FANTASY but Star Trek was way before it's time and even took into account certain issues with Teleportation as when Kirk would say to Scotty..."Beam me up Scotty!"......what was theoretically happening is that they had developed and understood a UFT....Unified Field Theory thus they could take matter and break it dow into it's smallest components being Quantum Particle/Wave Forms of Energy then using what would need to be QUANTUM COMPUTERS...back in the 1960's they called them Duotronics...and they used Heisenberg compensators which was the part of the transporter that permits the derivation of positional data and precision vectors of particles on a subatomic level....thus AN ENTIRE PERSON AND A PERSONS MIND, MEMORIES AND THOUGHT PATTERS would be stored in a Quantum Computer's Buffer which contained every Quantum Particle/Wave Forms position within Space-Time and a the Transporter would break down a person into Quantum Energy....use a Carrier Wave to BEAM THOSE EXACT SAME QUANTUM PARTICLE/WAVE FORMS and reconstruct them into Matter EXACTLY IN THE SAME WAY THAT MATTER EXISTED with every single Quantum Particle/Wave Form in it's exact same location relative to one another at another point in Space-Time in our Universal Reality.

Without the concept of the Heisenberg compensators....a person who was broken down into all their Quantum Components would actually be getting KILLED as a person would DIE....their memories would no longer exist and although another living breathing Human Being would be recreated on the other end of the Energy Beam carrier wave....and even though that Human Being would look like the other person and physically BE that other person...and it might even be possible to make that person retain memories....BUT IT WOULD NOT BE THE ORIGINAL PERSON AS THE MOMENT THE ORIGINAL PERSON WAS BROKEN DOWN INTO QUANTA....THAT PERSON WOULD BE DEAD!!!

So Star Trek came up with the idea of the Heisenberg compensators which was the part of the transporter that permits the derivation of positional data and precision vectors of particles on a subatomic level thus allowing a person who was broken down into Quanta during dematerialization and then as now Energy be BEAMED to a location using a Carrier Wave and RECONSTRUCTED but with all the derivation of positional data and precision vectors of particles on a subatomic level which was stored in the part of the PATTERN BUFFER that was the Heisenberg Compensators....the SAME PERSON THAT WAS DEMATERIALIZED WOULD BE THE SAME PERSON THAT WAS REMATERIALIZED!!

Pretty FREAKIN' ADVANCED FOR A 1960'S ERA LOW BUDGET MADE FOR TV SCI-FI SERIES!!!

    Anyways...on to the WARP DRIVE....

    AboveAlpha.....continued....

There are several way's a person could physically survive FTL TRAVEL...FTL....Faster than Light.

First thing is that a person could not travel at Faster than Light Velocities in NORMAL UNIVERSAL SPACE-TIME...even if they were being TELEPORTED this form of travel is not fast enough to viably traverse 100's if not 1000's or 10,000's or 100,000's or MILLION'S OF LIGHT YEAR DISTANCES.

1 Light Year is the distance Light Travels in ONE YEAR at a velocity of 186,282 miles per second thus a Light Year is equal to aprox. 6 Trillion Miles.

The CLOSEST STAR to our own Solar System besides our Sun is PROXIMA CENTAURI which is a red dwarf and a Variable Star and outlier in the Alpha Centauri system and at 4.22 light-years from Earth which means at the speed of light it takes 4.22 Years to get there from our Sun.

Now in Star Trek they are using a material they call Dilithium which in reality does exist but does not have the properties that STAR TREK'S Dilithium has as it is depicted as an extremely hard crystalline mineral that occurs naturally on some planets. When placed in a high-frequency electromagnetic field, magnetic eddies are induced in its structure which keep charged particles away from the crystal lattice. This prevents it from reacting with antimatter when so energized, because the antimatter particles never actually touch it. Therefore, it is used to contain and regulate the annihilation reaction of matter and antimatter in a starship's warp core, which otherwise would explode from the uncontrolled annihilation reaction.

Now NASA HAS ACTUALLY STARTED WORKING ON A WARP DRIVE!!! NO S#!#!!!

"Perhaps a Star Trek experience within our lifetime is not such a remote possibility." These are the words of Dr. Harold "Sonny" White, the Advanced Propulsion Theme Lead for the NASA Engineering Directorate. Dr. White and his colleagues don't just believe a real life warp drive is theoretically possible; they've already started the work to create one.

Yes. A real warp drive, Scotty.

When it comes to space exploration, we are still cavemen. We got to the Moon and sent some badass robot to Mars. We also have those automatic doors that swoosh wide open when you get near them, but that's about it. It's cool, but we are far from being the space civilization we'll need to become to survive for millennia.

With our current propulsion technologies, interstellar flight is impossible. Even with experimental technology, like ion thrusters or a spaceship's aft pooping freaking nuclear explosions, it would require staggering amounts of fuel and mass to get to any nearby star. And worse: it will require decades—centuries, even—to get there. The trip will be meaningless for those left behind. Only the ones going forward in search for a new star system would enjoy the result of the colossal effort. It's just not practical.

So we need an alternative. One that would allow us to travel extremely fast without breaking the laws of physics. Or as Dr. White puts it: "we want to go, really fast, while observing the 11th commandment: Thou shall not exceed the speed of light."

    Searching for warp bubbles
The answer lies precisely in those laws of physics. Dr. White and other physicists have found loopholes in some mathematical equations—loopholes that indicate that warping the space-time fabric is indeed possible.

Working at NASA Eagleworks—a skunkworks operation deep at NASA's Johnson Space Center—Dr. White's team is trying to find proof of those loopholes. They have "initiated an interferometer test bed that will try to generate and detect a microscopic instance of a little warp bubble" using an instrument called the White-Juday Warp Field Interferometer.

It may sound like a small thing now, but the implications of the research huge. In his own words:

Although this is just a tiny instance of the phenomena, it will be existence proof for the idea of perturbing space time-a "Chicago pile" moment, as it were. Recall that December of 1942 saw the first demonstration of a controlled nuclear reaction that generated a whopping half watt. This existence proof was followed by the activation of a ~ four megawatt reactor in November of 1943. Existence proof for the practical application of a scientific idea can be a tipping point for technology development.

By creating one of these warp bubbles, the spaceship's engine will compress the space ahead and expand the space behind, moving it to another place without actually moving, and carrying none of the adverse effects of other travel methods. According to Dr. White, "by harnessing the physics of cosmic inflation, future spaceships crafted to satisfy the laws of these mathematical equations may actually be able to get somewhere unthinkably fast—and without adverse effects."

He says that, if everything is confirmed in these practical experiments, we would be able to create an engine that will get us to Alpha Centauri "in two weeks as measured by clocks here on Earth." The time will be the same in the spaceship and on Earth, he claims, and there will not be "tidal forces inside the bubble, no undue issues, and the proper acceleration is zero. When you turn the field on, everybody doesn't go slamming against the bulkhead, which would be a very short and sad trip."

    The energy problem, solved
There was only one problem with all this: where does the energy come from? While we knew that warp drives were theoretically possible, physicists have always argued that they would require a ball of exotic matter the size of Jupiter to power it. Clearly, that was not practical. But thankfully, Dr. White has found a solution that changes the game completely.

The Eagleworks team has discovered that the energy requirements are much lower than previously thought. If they optimize the warp bubble thickness and "oscillate its intensity to reduce the stiffness of space time," they would be able to reduce the amount of fuel to manageable amount: instead of a Jupiter-sized ball of exotic matter, you will only need 500 kilograms to "send a 10-meter bubble (32.8 feet) at an effective velocity of 10c."

Ten c! That's ten times the speed of light, people (remember, the ship itself would not go faster than the speed of light. But effectively it will seem like it does).

That means that we would be able to visit Gliese 581g—a planet similar to Earth 20 light years away from our planet—in two years. Two years is nothing. It took Magellan three years to circumnavigate around our home planet—from August 1519 to September 1522. A four year roundtrip to see a planet like Earth is completely doable. And there are even closer destinations where we can send robots or astronauts.

This May Very Well Be the First New Earth This May Very Well Be the First New Earth This May Very Well Be the First New Earth
You are looking at what could be the fourth planet on the Gliese 581 star system, 20.3 light years… Read more Read more

The important thing is that there is now a door open to a different kind of exploration. That, like Dr. White says, "perhaps a Star Trek experience within our lifetime is not such a remote possibility." We may be witnessing the very beginning of a new age of space exploration, one that would finally take us from our pale blue dot back to where we belong.

Dr White would make a good science fiction writer because he's long on "maybe" and short on "possible" in his dreams.

AboveAlpha, the guy with the nickname "Q" at Langley......
made himself available through this forum and he knew that the risk was real
that one of his readers would decide that this man needs to be in an extremely high
    political office.........
because he is one of the only people on this earth willing to tackle
the most challenging topics with a level of objectivity and intellectual
    courage that amazes me?!

Should AboveAlpha allow us to set him up for the office of POTUS as early as 2016?

AboveAlpha... Sir if you see this reply you should take a look at the Helen Wambach Ph. D. research that she did along with Dr. Chet Snow.

You probably know about this already.... but they progressed about 750 people into the future.... and in the time line that these people viewed from the beginning point of the 1980's...... there was an outward wave of humans about three to four centuries from now..........

Yeah I would say 1 out of 500 projects bear fruit and then that 10 out of 5000 projects that bear fruit only 2 out of that 10 are given money then if this happens every year every 11.7 years ONE will actually make it to production.
