These are exclusive areas where everyone has money, And it's cheaper than burning down.

Once again there are private insurance companies that will send a team to protect their home regardless of what it's built out of.

Here is something from the Red Cross:

Unfortunately, wildfires are becoming a frequent occurrence in California. ALMA was born after the wildfires in 2017 and our desire to help the relief efforts and victims, many of whom were are friends and colleagues. We launched this fund after the 2018 wildfires, and have re-launched it following the Kincade, Getty and other fires in 2019.

    How You Can Help
"Sending money is almost always the most efficient way to help in a disaster", according to the Center for International Disaster Information, part of the United States Agency for International Development. Donate to relief efforts today to help the California wildfires.

2019: Fires across Northern & Southern California
There are at least 10 wildfires across California that have burned more than 101,000 acres in three weeks. Money raised in 2019 is going to these relief efforts. We will update this page as things develop.

    Maria Fire
The Maria fire broke out Thursday evening, Oct 31, and has grown to 8,730 acres and had no containment. 1,800 homes and structures are threatened, forcing the mandatory evacuations for about 7,500 people.

    Kincade Fire
Officials announced the Kincade Fire has spread to 73,324 acres, an area more than twice the size of San Francisco and is 65 percent contained. The fire destroyed more than 350 homes and structures.

    Getty Fire
In Southern California, high winds are fueling the Getty Fire in northern Los Angeles. The fire has spread to 656 acres, and is 66% contained as of November 1.

2018: Camp fire, Woolsey fire and others
We raised over $150,000 from thousands of small-dollar donors. People contributing $20 or $50 to support relief efforts, from all over the country. Thank you to everyone that gave so generously!

That is certainly not true of 99% of 0ur countr.Every large wind or snow storm results in trees falling in power lines. We have had well over 100 years of widespread electric supply wiring being strung above ground on telephone poles and still no effort to BAN GROWONG TALL TREES NEAR POWER LINES!!!!THE HEIGHT OF STUPIDITY!!!!

Time to make land owners liable for the cost of tree trimming g o0n their property and the costs of power line replacement and repair when their trees damage power lines. This is a huge factor in driving up the cost of electricity.

California will lose a significant portion of it's 40 million citizens due to these climate change annual fires. Our low tax southern states are apt to see a huge infusion of new inhabitants so they will need more schools and public infrastructure....OOPS there go the taxes skyward.

When you have winds above 70 MPH blowing burning embers it is virtually impossible to contain a fire.As far as the home construction the same idiotic logic as to why we continually build and rebuild stick built construction in tornado alley persists, we are morons that never learn from our own mistakes.

Why don't they just all have island homes so that they can let their mainland homes burn?

Oh, cost you say. Well, perhaps that's the answer to all of the above "I wonder whys" also.

No way. The private insurance option involves a 12 man crew doing a few hours work (at most). Fire proofing a home means radical changes from the ground up in order for it to be effective. .

It will become totally fireproof when it cracks off the continent and enters the ocean.

The crews would have to be well-trained and well paid. You'd also need more than just a few on standby all the time. Australia had big fires a few years ago and has made extensive changes to their building codes.

Not necessarily. Most American firefighters nationally are part time volunteers. They mainly do the job for the adventure of it. Even elite firefighters in the U.S. like smoke jumpers (parachutists) are often part time volunteers. Which makes sense because overall, full time firefighters spend almost none of their time actually fighting fires.

Nor do soldiers actually fight very much. "Hours of endless boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror", little wonder they break down if they do it a lot.

Is it a barren wasteland just because there is no vegetation? Pools and Zen gardens come to mind immediately. Fire resistant landscaping is quite possible

The Romans built many things which are still standing today and some of them are even still functional.Nothing we build today will still be standing in 2,000 years from now.We have regressed even during my lifetime,it takes us forever to do things today. When we started building the interstate highways back in the late 1950's and early 60's they were able to build a mile of 4 lane highway in a week, today we are lucky if we build 100 yards. It took 2 years to replace a two lane bridge in the center of my town and don't blame it on regulations this was 2 years AFTER ALL APPROVALS.

It takes liberal agitation. In Colorado, environmentalists fought to have electric power lines buried. The electric company fought back tooth and nail. But in the end, it was discovered that burying power lines is economically advantageous.

Calif could be far more fire resistant. But-------------------because stupid democrats in their state legis have pass really ignorant laws it is not. They have laws against clear cutting to block fires, laws against removing fallen trees, and how far back home owners can cut trees and brush around the lot their home is on. Also as I have posted elsewhere, if they would have used the BILLIONS they spent on criminal alien invaders, they could have a huge fleet of 747 water bombers that could stop most fires as they get started.
