    First, let me report that we who you see as the sworn enemy may well, as I have reported, first got military weapons training in high school. I spent 2 years doing military training. Then my Army training furthered my skills with military weapons. I have long supported the training done by the NRA. I see no reason on earth why Democrats despise the NRA. They are well known for their guns training and shooter training.

    Must I be trained in combat my entire life? I and millions love to shoot. We are not who you should target.

    BS. What they're unwilling to do is be mandated to take it or pay for it. Not the same.

    Offer it and they will show up in droves.

    that's because the right does not require such things to vest. I train all the time. that's why I am still a world class shooter at 58 and at this age one of the very best speed shooters for my age and the current state trap champion (open men)

    This part of the linked article;
    Is not true in my opinion. Here is a photo of my 1990's vintage Colt AR-15 Comp H-bar along side a T-15 AR-15 receiver I bought a few years ago.
    [IMG]

    As you can see the Colt has an extra hole milled in so that a steel pin can hold a steel block in the stop there the auto sear is normally installed. The other two pin holes for the internals are in exactly the same position. If I want to install an auto sear in the Colt, I'll need to remove the pinned in metal block. I tried with a hammer and punch; it was in tight enough that I decided I need a special tool just to make it budge.

    Either receiver is easy to convert to a machine gun.

    Sorry, but an AR-15 can easily to converted to be select fire (with full auto) with a simple drop-in kit.

    The author doesn't know enough about weapons to give an intelligent opinion.

    There are several militias in New York you should seek out for training, and thus fulfill your belief that only militiamen should be armed:

    New York Militia, New York Light Foot Militia, and New York Sons of Liberty.

    Which are regulated to the same degree the selective-fire firearms themselves are.

    The article contained the claims of a person purporting to be some sort of expert who made statements I certainly don't believe are true at all. That is why I have a problem with the post I quoted.

    Drop in kit plus the entire population of
    M-16 parts replacing the semiautomatic parts, and just pulling the original selector is a chore, and pushing out the pins without damaging the aluminum lower receiver or losing those naughty tiny springs and pins and even tinier detents, and I lost many of those !!!!
    Magnets helped and then I learned the plastic trash bag ploy !!!
    lol
