Here let me ask you a question. Why did Russia also support Bernie Sanders? Why did they support black lives matter? Why did they support anti trump rallies and groups after the elections? You won’t answer these questions of course. But they should be enough to shut down this stupid thread. My work here is done.

I violently agree their aim was to cause as much disruption as possible. It then emerged that their weaponization of social media was working like a charm and the GRU got involved with nefarious intent.

If You mean the DNC hacked emails had little or no effect on increasing disaffection with the democrats and clinton, then I might agree with you that it had little impact. But then I could get into many of their other "play both sides" venomous ad hom attacks/memes/anecdotes designed to inflame specific demographics and information feedback loops.

If Sanders had been elected, the same questions would be asked today as to why Russia was involved.

    But Trump won.

And his team even went so far as to meet a Russian delegation at the Trump Tower.

Obama's economic sanctions destroyed the Russian economy. But that's just a little love tap.

In retrospect it looks like Barack Obama was colluding with the Russians when he ordered a stand down of Russian election interference in the presidential contest during the 2016 election cycle because he figured that Russian interference was going to HELP Hillary get elected. Now we know, eh?

For one, they didn't trust Hillary.

Now Trump, as we know, is given to braggadocio, exaggerations, and he'll state as fact things that don't necessarily line up with the facts, but I think it's a piece of his personality to just state as fact things that are really his opinion without first checking the facts.

But Hillary .... I think the Russians assessed her as someone who was conniving and duplicitous and who would deliberately lie. For example, I think the Russians believe they were lied to when they were told that the Libyan operation would be nothing more than a "no-fly zone" in order to get them to acquiesce in the U.N. Security Council.

So, on balance, I don't think they thought Trump would be easy to deal with or a pushover, but I think they wanted to deal with someone who wouldn't deliberately lie to them. Wouldn't you, if you were them?

Secondly, Syria. Trump's focus has been to wipe out ISIS, a goal the Russians agree with. But Trump is not interested in getting us involved in the Syrian civil war. Hillary, on the other hand, was "all in" on prosecuting the Syrian civil war. She was one of its architects. She was in favor of establishing "no-fly zones" over Syria (think "Libya") which would have effectively turned our Air Force into the Syrian Rebel Air Force, and which would have inevitably put our jet fighters into direct conflict with theirs. In Syria, ISIS and Al Qaeda have gotten possession of sophisticated U.S. weapons that take out tanks and aircraft, thanks to Hillary's Syria policy. How would you feel about all that if you were the Russians?

As a side note, one of the reasons I voted for Trump was that I agreed that ISIS had to be defeated, but I want no part of the Syrian civil war.

    which
turned out to be everyone except Trump.

Thats a cute example of cherry picking on your part. Let's quote some more, shall we?:

    "
Russian election interference reportedly took effect during the primaries in an effort to undercut GOP candidates whose positions were hostile to Moscow’s interests and, more specifically, in an effort to boost Donald Trump."
"Russia’s election interference began well before the general election. It started during the GOP primaries and clearly in support of Donald Trump over his GOP opponents."

False, as evidenced by the fact that Putin specifically threw his support behind Trump during the primaries.

Obama's sanctions against Russia back in December of 2016 was Obama's response to that his side lost the election a month earlier.

If Hillary would have won, there would have been no sanctions, no "Russia Russia Russia," no Muller special council witch hunt and families would still be being separated at the border.

What sort of “evidence” might we look for to conclude that Russia influenced the vote

Are you certain the Russians did not prefer the big RESET Hillary? Or the Hillary that followed her president cohort that did virtually nothing to interfere with the Russian attempted breech of computer systems -- in fact his National Security Advisor told investigators to stop it. Or the Hillary that followed the president who whispered to tell Vlad to cool his heels, "He'll get what he wants after my re-election?".

That's easy. They wanted an arrogant, incompetent, naive, inexperienced President to lead the U.S. With the help of Trump's fan base, the Russians got what they wanted.

Trump is eternally grateful to Putin and it shows in everything Trump says or tweets.

The special counsel investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election issued an indictment of 12 Russian intelligence officers on Friday.

Trump's reaction was what we have come to expect from him. He blames Obama for the interference in our election, not his pal, Putin. “The stories you heard about the 12 Russians yesterday took place during the Obama Administration, not the Trump Administration,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Why didn’t they do something about it, especially when it was reported that President Obama was informed by the FBI in September, before the Election?”

Obama did, but let's not let facts get in the way of Trump's deceptive message to his gullible base.

On the subject of Russian interference Trump is going to hammer it home when he speaks to Putin.

    Yeah, when pigs fly.

Trump said that he will “of course” raise the issue of Moscow’s interference in the 2016 election at his Monday summit with Putin, but he said he has little recourse if — as expected — Putin denies that Russia interfered.

“Look, he may. What am I going to do? He may deny it,” Trump said at a news conference last week. “All I can do is say, ‘Did you?’ And, ‘Don’t do it again.’ But he may deny it.”

Think of it. Trump is telling us that all the President of the United States can do is ask if Putin interfered in our election. That is bizarre.

At a news conference on Friday with U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May, Trump said, “I will absolutely, firmly ask the question. I don’t think you’ll have any ‘Gee, I did it, I did it, you got me. There won’t be a Perry Mason here, I don’t think, but you never know what happens, right?"

Obviously, the Russian interference in our 2016 Presidential election is just a big joke to Trump. It is what one might expect from Putin's ally.

Many shudder at the secret meeting Trump will have with Putin. Kim successfully played Trump, getting three major concessions from him without giving up a thing. Putin is ten times the negotiator Kim could only dream about.

So according to leftists such as yourself...Russias master plan was to hack in order to get the guy elected who would make American military mightier, enact fair trade, build Americas economy, create American jobs, bring manufacturing back to America, protect our borders, negotiate peace, reduce nuclear proliferation....hmmmm sounds to me like Russia did more to help America than liberal democrats. Great plan guys....sounds like russia should get a fruit basket or something.
