The election, at this moment, looks like a bigger blowout than 2018. Which means control of the Senate is up for grabs. There is also the possibility of a tie, which means (in this situation) McConnell would have to work with the Dems. It's that or watch the VP cast the deciding vote on every vote.

No matter how this plays out, it's not looking good for the Cult. (Ask Steve King)

I dont think the cult can take over the senate, but who knows, they thought maybe the cult had a chance in 2018 and it turns out the good guys held onto the majority.

So if I was to guess, I think the cult loses in 2020 again and the Republicans hold the senate. Winning back the house is unlikely however so the cult will probably still hold the house.

I think the next 3 months will determine a lot about American politics.

That might be a good point.

It's an interesting day when both Mattis and Obama decide to talk about how screwed up things are.

This does have the feeling of building to a crisis..

No idea about Mattis but Obama definitely has a political motivation. There seem to be a lot of people speaking up because they smell blood on the water. Trump is doing the right thing pushing to open the country back up and try to salvage something. Congress has hit the Treasury harder than the looters disguised as demonstrators and they don't want to see the bank doors close.

“I have watched this week’s unfolding events, angry and appalled,” Mattis writes. “The words ‘Equal Justice Under Law’ are carved in the pediment of the United States Supreme Court. This is precisely what protesters are rightly demanding. It is a wholesome and unifying demand—one that all of us should be able to get behind. We must not be distracted by a small number of lawbreakers. The protests are defined by tens of thousands of people of conscience who are insisting that we live up to our values—our values as people and our values as a nation.” He goes on, “We must reject and hold accountable those in office who would make a mockery of our Constitution.”

“Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people—does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us,” Mattis writes. “We are witnessing the consequences of three years of this deliberate effort. We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership. We can unite without him, drawing on the strengths inherent in our civil society. This will not be easy, as the past few days have shown, but we owe it to our fellow citizens; to past generations that bled to defend our promise; and to our children.”

    The rest is worth reading.
