I'm a Vietnam vet and surely in the same age group as you. You may be right, but it doesn't seem to me that she is nearly as vocal lately. I think she is tiring. Many thought Kennedy would not leave while Trump was POTUS either. Right now she is setting there thinking my vote means nothing, the Conservatives control this court. She is also probably getting emails containing pictures of Kennedy enjoying retirement. As all us retired guys know, you only have so much time and even less quality time. I think she it thinking I have some great grandkids who I would really like to spend more time with and there will be no second chance. I still think she goes.

Nobody can decide that she is unfit or that she should retire except her. She could be impeached by ginning up charges (Republicans won't play that game), but that is not going to happen. Other than mortality, she is in charge of her destiny.

Should she become disabled or mentally incapacitated and can't work, but still wills to hold onto the office, the court shifts to 5-3 in her absence.

I don't know. I heard she grabbed little Joey's penis in the third grade. I think Feinstein is setting on his letter right now.

No. She would fight off Death itself to stay in there until the Democrats are back in power.

    Death, voluntary retirement, or impeachment.

There is no other way out.

If she should die how will we be able to tell? She looks dead half the time anyway and if it actually happened the Democrats would make Weekend at Bernies look like a prophecy.

Those who like BahamaBob who are writing "Right now she is setting there thinking my vote means nothing, the Conservatives control this court" are absolutely wrong.

    You may be right, Jake.

What we've achieved with the addition of Gorsuch and Kavanaugh is merely a more philosophically-balanced Supreme Court.

Obama put two radical, liberal judges on the SCOTUS -- Sotomayor (a National Council member of La Raza), and Kagan (a government-paid Democrat bureaucrat whose major function was to push Obamacare).

Then Justice Scalia died under VERY mysterious circumstances out in the remote West Texas desert....

Now President Trump has balanced the Court by adding two Conservative (we hope) Justices who will adhere to the Constitution of the United States exactly as it was written and amended!

Going forward... it begins to get interesting if Ginsburg dies sometime soon (she'll NEVER voluntarily resign while Trump is president....).

    You are correct.

Conservatives don't want to control the court. They want the Constitution and Legislation to control the court.

"Then Justice Scalia died under VERY mysterious circumstances out in the remote West Texas desert" in the care of right wingers.

    That is very strange.

I am not worried about Gorsuch and Kavanaugh when it comes to abortion rights; they will do nothing to limit them, as you well know.

What the G&K team will do is try to increase the power of the unitary executive and reduce workers to serfs.

It's disturbing how fixated Trumpists are on having this monstrosity appoint Supreme Court justices. They desperately want a political judiciary that happens to lean their way, I suppose because they have already been conditioned to believe that the judiciary is already political. This would be due to conservative pundits and a certain dishonest, manipulative loudmouth now within the party proclaiming that everything & everybody not falling perfectly in line with the Republican agenda of the day, no matter how silly or extreme it may be, is politically biased against the Republicans.

    That's Silly.

    Who told you that?
What rulings have they made to lead you to that bizarre conclusion?

    Or in the real world:

Republicans are tired of Democrats in the SCOTUS of legislating from the bench.

Name one big "Conservative Ruling" where Republicans have strayed from the Constitution.

I agree with you about most "right-wingers" and abortion rights. I know that many on the Left go into a big, bug-eyed panic attack while imagining that all Conservatives want abortion to be made illegal, but they're WRONG, Jake.

You know me, perhaps, to be an ARCH-Conservative (on fiscal matters), but I would never want the Supreme Court to invalidate Roe v. Wade! It's a woman's personal body -- so -- it's a woman's personal decision, as far as I'm concerned. So long as the "fetus", "baby", "blob-of-tissue" (or whatever someone calls it) is not actually BORN yet, the prospective mother may terminate it at will. It is not the business of the government to decide this.

Full disclosure: yes, I'm a Christian, and I'm a believer in the Constitution of the United States. That means that my own personal relationship with my personal concept of the Deity is my business, and any other person is completely free to have his/her own. Also, there must not be any government-ESTABLISHED religion in the United States, although it is clear to me, personally, that this nation was founded with Christian roots.

So, I'd suggest that those on the Left find something more, uh, 'unmistakable' to worry about than big mobs of us on the Right getting whipped up to throw out Roe v. Wade.... Ain't gonna happen.

Afterword -- please do elaborate on how Gorsuch and Kavanaugh are going to turn American workers into "serfs".... This ought to be even more entertaining than anything else since the Democrats' 'Blasey Ford' embarrassments....

If she gets to the point healthwise she cannot perform her duties but refuses to step down will Roberts go to the House and ask she be removed through impeachment proceedings?

Roberts can do that, and the Dems will prevent it in the Senate.

Correct. Her Demo-doctors will hook her up to as many tubes and machines as necessary, if required, to make certain that she has a pulse. And, as long as she has a pulse, she'll remain on the Supreme Court....
