Will we have a huge GOP as well as a huge Dem 2020 presidential field.

We are already seeing several Democrats either declaring or positioning to declare as presidential candidates in 2020 but will we also see a very large GOP field of candidates, as we had for 2016, as Dirty Donalds status deteriorates every day.

No speculation about the upcoming presidential election and the potential field size by both parties.I don't see no sense Pence as a viable candidate.

Those GOP candidates had better distance themselves from the Moscow Asset Governing America if they want to have a prayer.

Even if Trump eventually gets the Nomination (as expected) it would be nice to see a well-financed GOP candidate carve him up in the Primaries.

Somebody like Kasich, or Flake, or Romney could do a lot of damage with $100 Million.

Except it isn't. In fact Trumps support among Republicans is as good as it's ever been. While I've no doubt that some neocon goonie bird will stage a protest campaign against Trump the likelihood of more than one is highly unlikely especially when many of them still believe that the main reason Trump lapped the GOP field was that there were so many of them.

If they distance themselves from the BLOTUS they can't win the GOP primary!

If they embrace the BLOTUS and become the GOP candidate then they lose the election.

    Catch 22!

I suspect that the BLOTUS only got away with his personal insult tactics because it was so far beyond the norm that no one believed that the voters would fall for that odious schtick!

There will be no such hesitation to expose him for being an incompetent blowhard in 2020.

I think, if Trump runs in 2020, there should be fact checking throughout the debates. Call each candidate out on their BS when they spew it. Video clips, at the ready, to demonstrate a lie when told. I find it insulting and a complete waste of time to watch the debates anymore. They aren't actually 'debates' - they are simply another forum to talk about their platform, even if it isn't remotely related to the question asked. Especially in our current political climate, candidates should be forced to answer questions directly and tell the truth.

I agree with that. We need way better moderation of debates.

Technology has advanced, making it so much easier to hold candidates accountable for their statements. Debates need to advance their format to keep up with the times...

Yup, instant fact checking should be displayed given that it is possible to do now. Be interesting to see how that changes the outcome of debates.

Then again FauxNoise will probably rig their "alt fact" checking so it probably would not work for that segment of the electorate.

It could be displayed on a large screen on the stage behind the candidates - no calls of 'fake news' interference that way.

That makes sense but can you imagine the outrage if CNN or MSNBC are the ones hosting the debate?

In today's climate, I think it is essential that they don't...

I'm genuinely ignorant about these matters, but what about the traditional networks?

Fair point, but maybe the right person could bring conservatives and Republicans around, offer some of what MAGA has promised but in a much better package.

The BLOTUS supporters consider all of those to be "fake news".

The "right person" would probably need to be qualified to walk on water and leap tall buildings to accomplish something like that.

TBH the entire MAGA schtick is a scam. There is no substance worthy of retaining. Better to choose a different direction entirely.

As an Independent I would like to see someone like Kasich or Huntsman take the lead to put the GOP back on track. The problem is that neither of them are going to be able to withstand the crap that will be flung in their direction by the LCD that has hijacked the GOP. Getting rid of that dross is going to take the superpowers that I mentioned above.

It is possible one or two will run. It would be a God send to the Democrats if they did. Now what would be REALLY interesting is if Trump decided not to run. Then we will have a very exciting primary season.

Well then, I guess unless it's Fox, there's no pleasing them.

I have a feeling Dirty Donald will not be seeking office from his prison cell.
