I know the premise to this hypothetical is absurd, but had the Republican Senate done their patriotic duty, and removed Trump, and Pence turned out to be the man leading the nation for the last 6 months, how would our country be different? 1.How would he have responded to covid differently, impacting the pandemic and the state of the economy? 2. What kind of shape would he have been in to take on Biden, and would Republicans be in better shape in Congress? 3. Do you see him as helping get any major initiatives through Congress, on immigration, the budget, health care reform etc that Trump could not? Any thoughts on what this country be like if Pence were in that office?
This is highly speculative. We know now the reason Pence was chosen was that Melania believed he would be the least to betray her husband. She was spot-on with that observation, but as for him doing better, that is hard to fathom. He is, after all, just a puppet.

I think Republicans would be in much better shape. They would probably lose the presidency anyway, but they might have had a better chance at keeping the Senate, I would think. Assuming the Senators who are now in danger of losing their seats had been among the ones that voted to remove him, of course. Who knows if the response would be better to Covid 19. His response might have been to listen to science, or to order mandatory praying. Sort of a toss up. He might have gotten some things through Congress, but I doubt he would do it before the elections.

Its not remotely the same. He is a consummate boot-licker, which we must admit is an important part of the VP job. They are paid not to think. Not to decide. Not to contest. He is supposed to reflect his bosses views. But he was a former governor and Senator as well and far more politically astute about govt actually functions, than Donny. If he was the 'decider' and Trump was out it should impact the decision-making process. I was willing to tolerate Pence IF the Senate had done its job and impeached and removed Trump, but we know what happened there, so other than Trump resigning sometime before the inauguration to avoid trial and prison, he's irrelevant.

It's funny to see lefties continually cry about the Senate supposedly not "doing its job". They have no idea of the Pandora Box that the Dems opened. It's anybody's guess, but I have maintained for years that if Trump was impeached and removed from office, impeachment proceedings against Pence would have begun within two months of Trump's removal.
