No, I don't think so. Both are autocratic. Both are destructive systems. Capitalism, imperfect though it might be, is far far better.

Socialism (and the world's brief brush with fascism) has always been autocratic. As power increases in government, freedom decreases in the public. It advances to the point that the public serves the government when government should be serving the public. Freedom and wealth then pass from public to government. It happens every time. There are no successful autocracies and no successful socialist systems. People who live in Nicaragua or Cuba would certainly prefer to live in Europe or the U.S. where capitalism fosters freedom.

By dictionary definition, this country has been a fascist oligarchy for long before DJT took office. He is the crowning glory of our fascist system.

I'm all for capitalism, but not capitalism run amok as we have today in this country. We live in an oligarchy, not a democracy.

The heart of the Republican Party is the middle class and upper-middle class. Those are the productive people and they pay taxes.

The situation today in the US very neatly meets the dictionary definition of fascism. The corporations write the rules that "govern" them, and feed at the public trough. Socialism for corporations = fascism.
