Milley needs to be court martialed and then given his choice of firing squad or hanging.

You don't ask your boss for their weapon. You relieve them of command in an official capacity in front of witnesses.
And you normally face a court martial afterwards. There is a process for these things. When you're talking the civilian commander in chief, that process is prescribed by the constitution and requires death, incapacity, or removal, none of which are the call of the joint chief to make. He could outright refuse to obey an unlawful order, were said order to be actually given, but he could not subvert the authority of his superior ahead of time. He chose to do the latter, not the former.

First the military is under civilian control and that being the President.

It seems now that the DoD is HIGHLY disputing the reporting because if true, that's it for Milley.

Fox's Jennifer Griffith is reporting officials at the DoD are vehemently denying what the book is claiming, even calling it nonsense to imagine. They know the implications if what is claimed in the book is true. If it is true Biden has no choice but to fire him.

Perhaps hearings are called for as you would like to see happen.
