Why? Budgets are not the President's responsibility.

Again there is a difference between a language being the most used and it being official. An official language is one which is formally recognized as such by a nations government. The United States as a whole doesn't have an official language.

So you think we should abolish term limits for all offices? Because if it's wrong for congress then logically it's wrong to have limits on any office.

I oppose imposing limitations on democracy, the right of a citizen to vote for a candidate of her choice. If she regards an incumbent as the most qualified to represent her in that capacity, I don't see why that candidate's having done so and proved her competence should disqualify her. That should be up to the voter to decide, not the bureaucrats who contrive restrictions on voting.

Sounds good to me. I would go even further and say congressional salaries should be paid out of the previous years budget surplus.

I would love to cut all their pay in half, minimum. And they would still be grossly overpaid.

The United States doesn't have an official language but the American Dream does.

The issue with that is that sometimes spending and debtbis necessary. If we did have a balanced budget amendment, it would be necessary to make drastic cuts to military social security Medicare in many other important programs. Without these cuts a balanced budget is impossible.

And you would have to pick and choose between multiple essential services to fund because properly funding all of them is impossible without debt, unless you have much higher taxes to cover them.

A balanced budget is impossible without much lower spending and or much higher taxes

Debt is never necessary except, perhaps, time of war or actual national emergency - end of the nation kind of emergency, not this crap going on now.

While I understand the attraction of such an amendment, it would solve nothing, & create even more hostility & polarization than we already suffer from. It's inherently a negative approach to solving a problem. It's more of the old tit for tat approach, which has never been very successful in anything. I vote no.

Instead, I advocate for a more positive approach. Find ways to reward politicians for working together cooperatively, rather than continuing the painful & fruitless obstruction that has paralyzed our government for over a decade.

A balanced budget is quite possible and a good idea, assuming the government can have a savings account for rainy days. Obviously lower spending is a necessity as well. No higher taxes required. Instead we have debt up to our ear lobes. Sorry, we can't trust lawmakers with money. A balanced budget is just a small start to moving our government to fiscal sanity.

Yes and an important one. We can't keep spending like we do. It leads nowhere good.
