I'm more knowledgeable about those who claim to be knowledgeable about the Bible
than I am about the Bible.
And Sallyally knows a lot of what I know of the Bible I learned in Larry Gonick's Cartoon History of the Universe. From there we discussed Deborah, Barak, General Sisera and Jael.
They don't write stories that good no more.

If the Yellowstone volcano should break out ... in full strength ... then half the US is buried by about 3 feet high ash ... and the whole world has a mega problem for years!
Then are Syria, North Korea, Russia, Ukraine. ISIS, Iran and Obamacare completely unimportant things on this planet!

And not to forget! As the livelihoods of many Americans are destroyed, and for a long time, there will be an emigration to the south in the direction of Mexico! I think Trump can be happy if Mexico does not build a wall against the US to not allow the then illegal immigrants from the USA!
Sorry for this page hit, but he is more than appropriate and based on facts and people should take in mind that things can reverse like an echo!

Well, the Earth gains 60 tons of comic dust every day, so that should make it expand. I'm no expert, but in the past our atmosphere was much thicker and I think that is the determining factor for dinosaurs. I doubt those huge reptiles could glide or get enough O2 with today's atmosphere.

Mexico already strictly enforces their immigration laws.

The problem for the atmosphere is less the ashes ... depending on quantity, this is only a question from days to a few months!

The problem is sulfur dioxide and when it comes into the atmosphere in huge quantities over 20,000 meters! Then it takes years and when it's going really bad (what is much likely at such super volcanos like Yellowstone), you can build a snowman in the Mohave desert!

    Any wondering?
As far as I was told here in forum, it is enough to have as US citizen a valid drivers license to enter Mexico... maybe you need as US citizen in future a Passport and a Visa to enter Mexico?

However, this thread is about Yellowstone and the Earthquakes and not about the illegal dispute. My intention was only to show that if Yellowstone breaks out, many US people will flee to Mexico and further, because their homes are widely destroyed and some US stated would not further exist anymore :)

But you accept that earth is not flat and several billion years old?

It will be very close to an extinction event. Between acid rain, lower temps, and blocked sunlight, death will overcome most. And the ones who survive will war over the remaining food supplies. It will affect the entire planet, not just the US.

The Northern hemisphere is heating up, that's why we're having so many earthquakes, so Mexico would be too hot. Better they move to Siberia. Russia is giving away land... unless they want to move to Brazil, since the Southern hemisphere is cooling off. I came across an expert on Youtube who said exactly how much ash will fall on each state. Here in Florida I'm safe. Besides, would it be worse than the eruption at Santorini? Most of the damage and deaths then were due to the tidal wave...

My experiences have shown the earth is round, and is several billion years old according to how we measure things. But there is no time in the afterlife since our experiences cease.

This is always the question I ask my hyper partisan left friends. The only answer to their problem is A LOT less people on the planet.

After all of their ideas to solve the worlds problems, that is the only single answer that can actually do what they are wanting to happen.

I am actually honestly really happy to see you say so, I appreciate the honesty.

While I don't want to commit any mass murders, if any non man mad "accident/occurrence" like this happened thinning out the worlds population it would have plenty of good long term effects.

Many in the US sense that something is going to happen, and have been stocking up on food and survival elements. They now advertise a gadget that will keep food fresh for 20 years.

I know in Greece the people have been given warning for years by monks that there will be a severe famine, and to grow vegetable gardens in any space they can find. Also to stock up on dried beans, grains and stuff like in the past for at least for six months, so they can feed not only themselves, but their neighbors as well.

So maybe it would be smart if we were told to prepare for any eventuality as well.

According to loads of prophecies that go back probably to the Bible, one half to two thirds of the world will die overnight. No doubt from a nuclear war. Best to die though, than to be one of the few survivors in a place that was hit.

Who knows ... some believe in whatever kind of religion, others simply believe the dimension is changing, and others believe that they are absorbed by aliens from another galaxy ... and many other things.

It would be minimum worse as Santorini in ancient age, ...
As told, the ashes is one thing and dangerous out of many reasons, but if huge mass of sulfer dioxide wents into the upper atmosphere, the global warming will be no further problem for us and the clothing stores will make record sales for winter clothing and the people in Arizona will be best customers for snow plowing!

We have several Super Volcanos on the earth ... not all are more or less active and rated to be silent and not dangerous, others not. Some well known and potential dangerous are aside the Yellowstone and Santorin...

    Toba in Sumatra
Vesuvius and the Phlegraean Fields at Napoli / Italy
    Taupo in new Zealand
Altiplano-Puna volcano complex in Chile and Bolivia
    Long Valley Caldera in California
    Corbetti in Ethiopia
    ... and others

The phrase you're looking for is "Credo in un Dio crudel" I believe in a cruel god.

So god isn't all merciful, all knowing, and all powerful? I figured it was a scam. Has to be, because what decent human being could worship a creature who could save innocent sick kids but chooses instead to let them suffer and die?

That doesn't make sense. Why would saving sick kids negate god? Does he get off on watching them suffer? (Again, if I believed in gods, it would be "Credo in un Dio crudel").

My rationale is that it's a poor sort of person who won't help a sick child if he can. Worshipping such a sad sack is a pathetic act.

One of the reasons I like "demiurge"
is it includes "God" as a relatively minor deity among his crowd.

Ah, so innocent kids die so god can teach people to be compassionate and loving. More of that "do as I say , not as I do" nonsense huh? God's the original hypocrite.

Well at least those innocent kids won't live in a void for all eternity. It's the adults you should worry about. Their minds will still be in this world's existence, when this world will not exist anymore. Their souls though will live on.

Pretty depressing isn't it? Now that's what hell is, not that you would understand a word I'm saying. Arrogance can be very blinding.

Aha! So you believe in a god of your own making? I like the Rites of Dionysus, more fun. :alcoholic:

I remember the wine festival in Greece during September. I guess to honor the god Dionysus. For 35 drachmas you could drink all you want; dance, eat and have a ball. Let me tell you, he's the best.

So when is this going to cause the destruction of the US? Seems to be taking its time.

Oh well, I guess all the prophets of doom will just forget they got this one wrong & move on to the next prediction.
