Oh, and because your homicide rate has been plus or minus 0.5 for over 60 years. It was never, and has never, been high. Gun laws have nothing to do with your murder rate.
No it has never been as high as the USA but then we have never had your level of gun ownership. Even before 1996 there was varying levels of gun control. All that the NFA really did was see a National standard
Your murder rate in 1950 is what it is now. Gun laws had nothing to do with it, and gun laws aren't stopping people from getting shot in Australia.
It has been admitted by yourself that most of the prohibited firearms were never surrendered, but rather hidden by the legal owners so they could not be confiscated. So pray tell, precisely why are mass shootings not a common thing in the nation of Australia, despite there being plenty of firearms, and plenty of opportunity, for such to come to pass?
I find it quite ironic that Bowerbird would rather blame otherwise law abiding citizens in her Country rather than place the blame squarely on those responsible for crime and violence. Australia has always had less crime, due to it's People, not Firearms policymakers.
So you are saying, Blokes inna Pub sed, Crikey Mate ! We can sell Gunz to dem Injins down unda, deys ignoarnt snd we can get them in strawman sales and export them illegally somehow to Australia !!!! Yeah, sure, next failed conspiracy theory.
Indeed, I've proved her wrong on that at least twice but she keeps repeating that nonsense. Less than 1% of Australia's guns are smuggled in, and most are coming in via the Philippines and Europe. Not the US. The vast majority of the guns that are used in crimes are guns that were never turned in during their mandatory "buy back" confiscations.
