I really had to chuckle when I read the headline of this piece from the Canadian CBCNews. Why not? It's been going on well before recorded history for goodness' sake! Animal waste has been used as fertilizers to increase crop yields. All of a sudden, someone is worried and upset by this? And in Canada of all places? Now, having some dumb desk jockey sitting in a drab, windowless office in D.C. At the EPA would not surprise me. Especially is he or she was one of those Organ Food nuts who had absolutely no idea that growing food organically means no artificial fertilizers. If they aren't artificial, what are they? Why animal poop, of course! Anyhow, read the story @ http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/sewag...ying-to-make-sure-it-s-safe-1.2606919?cmp=rss
I thought the article was quite clear about the concerns they're looking in to are. Maybe you didn't read beyond the "amusing" headline. They're using the material and apparently have been for some time but there is legitimate research going on about any risks from the large amounts of artificial substances we consume. It all seems perfectly reasonable to me.
