Now I have heard a LOT of complaints about 'Aussies wanting to change America's gun laws' and usually they are complaining about ordinary citizens like myself not a well funded large and aggressive political organisation - like the NRA

I like how Americans are always quick to tell everyone to stay out of our business yet we have no problem getting into theirs. Every time a European comes in here and says we need to change our gun laws they are met with a firestorm from Americans telling them to basically go screw themselves.

If we don't want foreigners saying we need to change our gun laws then we (foreigners) need to stay out of other nation's business as well. If they want strict gun laws then that's their problem, so like we always tell everybody else...mind your own business.

Thanks mate!!

Interestingly nearly every news story about this here has pointed out how the NRA has been, well let us use the term 'disingenuous' rather than lying, They all point to the fact that the NRA was quoting research from 2006 which stated that there were no real clear trends rather than the later research which showed decrease in firearm related mortalities

Strayas can't have guns :nana:
.and they all really should be able to.
It's dangerous 'round there.
Idk how you guys let that one go over.
That's not so good.
All them snakes,crocs,sharks,roos..and you can't defend yourselves.
It's be like me living in my old N-hood without a gun..and a 8-ft Diamondback comes up..

I wonder how many Americans spend time on AUSTRALIAN based boards like this pissing and moaning about their laws versus all the buttinkski Foreigners who come onto our boards and (*)(*)(*)(*) and moan about our laws. I am well known around the net for being as pro gun as they come and I have YET to go on a foreign board and bash the home country for its idiotic laws

LOL

How long have you Aussies pushed your anti-gun agenda here in the USA, from people like you on forums to John Howard to ridiculous Australian comedians like Rebel Wilson.

You can dish it out but you can't take it, not even a little tiny bit of it. The NRA writes a little article and you people pitch a fit and complain that the NRA should mind its own business. Ha, take your own advice.

We can have guns - in fact we have more per head now than before 1996 and we STILL have reduced gun related fatalities and gun related crime :)

Why? Because it is not the number of guns but the legislation surrounding access to and security of

Wait, an anti-gun squeal on the rabidly "progressive" Daily Show (which we now know was a mouthpiece for obama, complete with secret meetings in the White House) is your excuse for complaining about the NRA writing an article published in Australian media?

LOL are you serious?

The average Aussie seems to be proud of their strict gun control measures. Good for them for taking the initiative and reducing gun violence long ago.

This is the largest political forum on the internet at the moment. We have plenty of members from all over the world so of course we will receive more traffic from non Americans than other forums.

Either way it doesn't matter. If we want to get militant on others for daring to question our own gun laws then we need to stay out of their business. I am 100% pro gun and I own a plethora of firearms and am a lifetime member of the NRA. But I am also a realist. If we belittle foreigners for questioning our gun laws in America then we need to stay out of their nations gun law business.

You can't tell somebody to mind their own business then turn around and get directly into theirs...We need to eat our own words on this one folks...

Since it was comedy - no not serious :p

Then there is always this

He makes some very good points - even if it is comedy. In a nutshell he is summarising how many Aussies feel - we do not want guns - we do recognise your 'rights' under the second amendment - we just wish you would stop shooting each other - and we REALLY REALLY REALLY wish you would stop lying about the statistical differences in gun deaths

- - - Updated - - -

I admit we never had the level of gun violence here that America sees. Why there is a difference and what is driving that is what keeps me posting on this forum.

It deserves mentioning that the nation of Australia is now seeking to prohibit the ownership of lever-action shotgun, long after prohibiting the ownership of pump action shotguns.

You're free to say and think whatever you want man, I'm not saying you don't have that right. All I'm saying is that don't get upset when an English person tells you to go and shove it for getting into their business. We don't have kings and queens in America so why do you care what they do over there? We tell them to shut up and mind their own business when they stick their nose in our affairs so why shouldn't we do the same in regards to their affairs?

This is not exactly a normal lever action rifle is it?

And we have not banned all lever action rifles - but we ARE and will continue to be concerned about rapid fire weapons

weird - can't seem to remove the attached thumbnail pic

Lemme know what method you'd prefer to deal with that croc in the previous picture.
I would want the biggest cartridge gun I could get for that...That there looks like about an 18-footer..which is bigger than the biggest one in my N-hood I grew up in
it was probably 17-footer ..and i used to try to stalk it with a 16-guage..
head the width of the length of a leg
3 1/2 foot high...by 17 feet
That was a big gator.
One time we set up a snatch hook with a chicken on it...tied to a Mangrove branch...that thing got it..and we never saw it.
and the snatch hook was clean.
You guys have no guns to kill something like that and they're there..yikes.
