Frankly, I hear more people saying "everybody knows X, but in fact, it's Y" than I hear people saying X to begin with. Most of the ackchyuallys are more known to me than their respective "original" facts. But, yes, people are very much influenced by the world view they hold. That's why I find it very important to be well versed in one or two world views which you do not hold, to the point where you are able to see how they will react to any particular new bit of information. And that won't just be "well, they're stupid, so they will make this erroneous assumption".
You didn't tell us anything. All you did was post a link. I guess I have to believe you know how to post a link.
Are you really DRI? If so, do you remember when I dove off the stage in Columbia SC and landed on my back on the floor because I was too intoxicated to realize that there was only 1 row of fans against the barrier?
None of you all obviously had any college technical writing. Since none of you all knows anything about intro, body, and conclusion. Not even subject, verb, and object. Just silly games of show and tell online.
The brain treats with suspicion any "facts" that do not easily fit with the "facts" that are already believed. This could apply equally to highly religious people and militant atheists, and anyone with a strong stubborn political worldview.
