Default Valerie Plame

Why wasn't she fired.....and/or put in jail?

A CIA employee was fired today for leaking Classified information to the press about the "secret" detainee prisons. I have long asked.....how was it that CIA agent (employee) Valerie Plame wasn't fired for talking to reporters about Classified CIA reports?

"The officer has acknowledged unauthorized discussions with the media and the unauthorized sharing of classified information," Gimigliano said. "That is a violation of the secrecy agreement that everyone signs as a condition of employment with the CIA."

Okay....so EVERYONE SIGNS IT. That would include Valerie Plame. And yet......she was at a breakfast meeting on the morning of May 4th, 2003 with her husband and NYTimes reporter Nicholas Kristof. Three days later, Kristof printed a story about the Niger trip citing "a person familiar with the trip" and "present at the meeting" and other anonymous sources. As well as citing a "former U.S. ambassador."

Even if she sat there and didn't say a word while her husband spilled his guts and lied........she was part of it. And I doubt very seriously she sat there silently anyway.

So......why wasn't she fired? Or investigated?

And please: try to stay on subject and not go off on unrelated tangents. If you don't want to discuss THIS subject; move on.

Probably because (contrary to myth that she's Jane Bond) she was a nobody and what she had to say wasn't classifed information.

OR she could be under investigation right now. She certainly should be.

True....she might be and probably IS a nobody. But fact is.....she met with a reporter and leaked CIA information. CIA employees sign something saying they won't do that. NOT to mention what she and her husband leaked was lies. If you're with the CIA and you're working AGAINST your country that way....by telling lies to the press that harms your country, then I call that treason.

So it's illegal to go to meetings with your husband if he happens to be talking to a reporter?

You have no evidence to support that she leaked anything.

I've told that many times now already. NYTimes reporter, Nicholas Kristof. The leaked information was about CIA business......the trip to Niger....and other things. But more importantly, much of it was lies. That makes it even worse.

Where do you think Joseph Wilson was getting his CIA information?

If she sat there at that meeting with them....and Wilson told CIA Classified information to a reporter, then she's a party to it as well.

since when has lying to the press been a crime? If that is a crime, shouldn't Scott McClellan be doing time in San Quentin?

And what CIA business was leaked? And did Valerie meet with Nick or did Joe meet with Nick?

Default Probably

1) because there is no evidence she leaked any information

2) because the agency considered her legend to be one of the most rare and important in the organization

3) because the agency realized the President was wrong about Niger.

3)--nope the agency claims have been validated by Iraqi docuements. If Jp5 or the 12th man wishes they can lead you to the documents. I frankly don't care enough to bother because I know you don't care at all.

Regardless of whether she leaked anything or not.

It is rather ridiculous of a CIA agent to go to meetings with her husband to meet a reporter making a story on informatioin she is privy to.

Shows a lack of common sense and IMO is grounds enough to have had her fired immediately.
