This way he can claim the USA and Colombia are plotting to attack so his aid to the guerillas is just defensive...and many a wanna be communist/leftist/US hater will buy it.

DuH2 as the US did have a little plot going against Chavez and the US did back an anti Chavez movement in Venezuela, it appears that Chavez does have more veracity than the US on the subject of US plots.

US plots in the South Americas are a fairly frequent occurrence. In fact it is not unknown for the US to use money set aside by congress for South American adventures, ask Olly North about that one.

Well I suppose if you just assume he has it because he says he has it.

Allegations of US involvement surrounded the failed 2002 attempt to oust Venezeula's President Hugo Chavez. The US denied any involvement but Mr Chavez claimed they financially backed the plotters. Greg Palast went to Caracas.
