Well, vinegar would help there but, of course, anything goes well with tomato sauce.

... according to Zhuang Guotu (2000:46) 'it is well-known in China that perhaps 25 per cent -30 per cent; of first-level American scientists are Chinese'. ...

I disagree. As part of an effort to rebuild the US manufacturing base, I would place a 250% tax on all chinese imports, until they were no longer a factor, and while this would lead to higher consumer costs, would be beneficial in the long run.

Default is anyone questioning the sourse?

just to put this out there, the sourse is the times of india. the indians aren't the biggest fans of china. and they also manufacture chips.(TS2) won't it be in thier favour to publish this story? drop the chinese contract for the chips and hire the indians? and at the end of the day why not try manufacture your own? just random thoughts.

It does not surprise me one bit. When we import many small electronic components from other countries, we are just asking for security issues if someone wishes to sneak in some sort of memory recording chip that could be access via remote to transmit information back. I am curious what the process is for approval of components used on classified and top secret systems on aircraft and communications systems.

What you suggest would place such a ridiculously large burden on not only consumer but also supplier costs. Our consumer-based economy would grind to a stand still. And while this would encourage the development of a domestic manufacturing base, many of these manufacturing plants--especially in the area of electronics--require millions or billions of investment capital and any number of years to actually physically build. The volume of imports we receive from China could not be replicated in a year, even five years. In order to redevelop the US manufacturing base, which I agree is a desirable goal, we'd need to implement a less drastic, functional tariff on Chinese goods over a long period of time. During that time, consumer costs would skyrocket, and, due to various working condition laws in the US, stay very high in comparison to the low prices we have now.
