T-mobile is not on your list, but I would definitely avoid them. Their service has sucked for me. I had Verizon before and it was actually pretty reliable and good.
I'm looking as well so I'm curious about what other people have experienced with carriers. If I had my druthers, I'd just cancel the (*)(*)(*)(*) thing and go back to the land line. It's too expensive to be so easy to find! Stupid job, hate you.

I have T-mobile. Except for a couple of spots between here and El Paso, I get good reception. In Sep. 2005, we had to evacuate for hurricane Rita. During this time, we had a death in the family when my Dad's RV burned up. Of course, the lines were very busy then, but we still managed to go $150 over our regular plan. 4 of us were sharing 1500 minutes. After I got the bill, I called to update our plan to 3000 minutes. The lady asked when I wanted it to take effect. I jokingly said to make it retroactive and she didn't say anything, but they did just that. They saved me $150! I'll stay with them until either someone else comes up with an unbeatable plan or t-mobile screws up.
I heard that Verizon is coming out with unlimited minutes soon. Be sure to check that out.

Cingular and AT&T are the same company now right? Anyways that's who I use and they're not so good for me. I live in the DFW area...kinda and reception is hit or miss depending what spot you are standing in. I know people that use Verizon and they claim that reception is always great. Problem is, the Verizon dealers in my area don't offer maintenance and I'd have to mail the phone off if it needs to be fixed. That's the only reason I haven't switched to them. The AT&T store here offers good customer service... 'course it costs an arm and a leg LOL.

If you are using it locally go with verizon. I haven't had any dropped calls over the last few years of service, always have clear signals, and the stores are so close they are my means of customer service. I started with cingular

I appreciate everyone's input so far. I'm hoping to hear from more people here too.
I presently have Sprint and it's okay, but just adequate. However my situation is that I live in a very old house and the lath and plaster construction with the siding means I don't get good signal inside. The calls tend to drop pretty quickly. I'll be happy to go with anyone who can provide a signal that works inside my house. If I go stand outside on the front porch everything's fine. Of course, if it's 8 degrees and blowing snow it tends to make you make you want to cut your conversations pretty short. I'm taking classes and the college there is like a black hole for cell signals, so aside from not being able to use it at home or use it on campus I have no complaints. I'm at neither of those locations like... maybe 10% of my life. Anyone text? I've got unlimited texting and find it rather fun. It's much more leisurely of a way to keep in touch with my wife and some family members, but not everyone I know texts. I guess that's the price I pay for being an old fart. Phones: I have my eye on the GZ-one. (Only Verizon provides it.) It's built to military specs and I love that. I like that not because I'm rough on phones, but the new vocation I'm training for is kinda rough on tools like that. I like the idea that it won't matter if I drop it, it falls in a mud puddle and it rains when I'm using it outside, or I forget it in my vehicle and it's extremely hot or cold. Any thoughts on those?

Wow, Senax. I thought no one could be rougher on phones than my kids. I do OK because we have 6 people on the plan, and every time I extend one of them, I get a free (or near free) phone of my choosing. I once paid $30 for a really cool phone and my daughter sold it on ebay for $170.
We've had good luck with all the Samsungs we've had though if your boyfriend happens to be holding it when you break up with him, chances are it won't survive.

I appreciate all the comments.
Please don't forget to vote in the poll as well. So far there have been three people who voted... counting me.
