Default Are there any other Libertarians on this site?

I am curious. Am I the only one?

I'm more of a Constitutionist with Libertarian leanings. I don't fit into categories very well.

If I had to classify myself, I would state I am a libertarian.

I use to like the idea of being a Constitutionalist more. However, I've come to realize over the years that the Constitution is only a piece of paper with some good ideas on it.

They have good ideas and no bite. The same could be said for the Libertarians, but I believe that the LP is in good position to surpass the Republican party because people are tired of it increasing gov't like the Democrats do.

Like I said in another thread, I thought I had a good alternative choice in Barr, but I just can't go for the guy. His voting record leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

You know he apologized for the Patriot Act don't you? Many people voted for it based on unkept promises.

sadly in my opinion, there are people who knowingly refer to themselves as Libertarians. In all my life I've never met Libertarian who was principled when push came to shove. Good theoretically but lacking real world practices. Libertarianism would kill the goose that laid the golden egg.

I don't accept his apology.

His apology was based on the premise that the Patriot Act didn't turn out to be what he thought. He blamed Bush on that. Well, he should have first off, read the Patriot Act (or any and every bill before voting yes or no on it) beforehand and decided that it was against the Constitution immediately.

Ron Paul voted against it.

How can people say libertarianism isn't practical when it has never been practiced?

I agree on that, but he did get a sunset clause in it so it wouldn't be forever. It was suppose to be for terrorism but was misused for other things.
