As we all know, Ford fired several thousand of their workers. Their excuse is that it was needed to keep up with Japanese competition but the truth is that if anyone should be fired its the bosses who OK the cheap cars that American car companies are famous for. The American cars are made to break down so the consumer will go spend money to keep it fixed, but Japan however makes quality cars that last like they should and the result is they dominate the market. Workers shouldnt be fired because their bosses were corrupt and although Im against capitalism, I think that we should learn from our Asian counterparts and build cars with high quality and low price. The whole reason our brothers are unemployed is because the capitalist's plan blew up in their faces and decided the workers should take the fall for doing what they were told to do.

I swear by Toyota. I drive a 10 year old Toyota Camry and it looks nice and has never had a problem.

That is one reason why Toyota is now part of the Big 3, too bad for Chrysler.

The U.S. and Canada should subsidise their car manufacturing companies like Germany does, to keep the companies competitive so jobs will remain within the country.

What would also be effective is if the government started prosecuting and punishing corporations that use illegal immagrants for cheap labor. Doing that would put more American workers on the job and end the entire reason for illegal-immagrants to come here. I'm not racist or anything but to solve un-employment we first need to end illegal immigration and give American workers the advantages that are being stolen from them such as free health-care and insurance. Also, we need to end all trade with other nations and become an Isolationist nation so that way the American corporations would be forced to build better products in order to keep society stabilized.

I don't think being Isolationist would help America. There are alot of Toyota plants in the U.S. and Canada that provide high quality jobs to the local people. There is no reason to pursue isolationist policies when foreigners are providing your citizens with high-quality jobs and good cars.

We shouldnt be having to depend on foreign nations for high-quality jobs or good cars. The government needs to step in and get American industry up with the rest of the world so that we wont have to be dependent on other nations, and Americans cannot be truly politically independant unless their first economically independant. Economic independance would keep us out of all wars that didnt concern us and if we were economically independant the Iraqi war wouldnt be raging on right now.
