Thread: China Trade

  1. Default China Trade

Trading with China in a massive scale will eventually destroy this country as we have known it. The trade balance is lop sighted and unfair. Our billion dollar companies which the right wing politicians support have all moved their good paying jobs in the U.S. to China for cheap labor. Caterpillar CEO was bragging that they had built a big plant in China and had created 15K jobs for the people of China. Yet our conservative right wingers are protecting companies like this from paying any taxes in this country.

China does not need to fire a single shot to destroy this country. Since our politicians have signed all these trade agreements going back two decades, our country has been going down hill. Our politicians need to wake up, or get voted out before it is too late.

Completely agreed. Why are all the other countries taking action to protect their markets from cheap goods? (Brazil for example) Perhaps because American corporations have put so many investments into Chinese factories, where they can get away paying a lower tax rate.

Trading with China is the only way the USA can survive. The USA is dependent on China for products and maufacturing, without China the cost of manufacturing and production would cause over 2/3ds of the USA to go broke, as they would not be able to afford the overinflated cost of US products due to massive capital overhead.

The USA has been losing the competition for the South American Market, particulary the large grwoing consumer markets of Brazil and Chile. And soon to be Mexico. China is selling those countries massive industrial and technological products and materials needed for those countries to surpass the USA in the next 3-6 years.

Right now, China is the #1 exporter of new energy technology, and materials. They are also, capitalizing on South America's massive consumer market that is hungry for technology, and infrastructure. Brazil and Chile are developing wind and solar energy plants and have been doing it for many years.

When you look at the Middle East and the Arab World, all you see is poverty and religious nut bags tring to kill. Because that is what the media wants you to see. The fact is for those "In the Know", in that part of the world, UAE is a massive power, and their countries technology and infrastruture rival the greatest engenering marvles of the world. Check out the cities of Dubai and what is going on in Kuait.

While the jewish owned broadasting media in the USA keeps it's people ignorant of what is going on in other countries (other than isreal), the rest of the developed and emerging countries like, China, India, S Korea, Brazil, Chile, Russia, Germany, Turkey, and most of the Netherlands are making big improvements in manufactuing, technology, and economic growth, as well as human rights and capitalism. So, if you think the only threat to the USA's economy is China, you are sadly sheltered from what is going on in the world, and have no clue about how these countries I indicate relate commercially with one another. Also, if you think the USA is still #1 economically, you must be from the school that says "I'm broke and have massive debt I can't pay. But I'm unemployed, and still #1 because I can get more loans to pay for stuff that will put me farther in debt".

Russia 20 years later is no better off than they were at the end of the cold war in 1991. The once mighty superpower was taken down by the taliban in Afganistan. Russians spent hundreds of billions there, and it broke their country's economy and their ability to innovate and expand. I see the same thing happening in the USA. Total economic default, and no room to grow within it's boarders. In fact, the USA's bread and butter of capitalism that once profited/capitalized on buinsess, and consumers, have tapped out those resources to the point of collapse, and for the past 5 years they have been capitalizing on the governments and taxpayers. That is as deep as capitalizam can go. Now, corporations are eating away at the US governments and it's taxpayers.

So you see, the problems of the USA are far more complex than a simple one sollution blame. Pointing the finger in one direction is trivial with so many problems and causes. Even more complex, is to change people's thinking so they can understand the scope of the USA's problems. But as usual, you can't fix stupid, or make someone smarter than their limited congnitive capacity allows. Thus, the outlook for the US economy is very grim, and this direction we are on is set.

China losin' it cheap labor edge...

China 'losing edge' as low-cost manufacturer, says KPMG
15 September 2011 : Bangladesh, Indonesia, India and Vietnam are poised to benefit as China's costs rise
China is losing its edge as the world's cheapest place to manufacture goods, a new report suggests. Indonesia and Bangladesh are benefiting most as rising costs in China force firms to switch production, it says. The report by consultants KPMG says that minimum wage levels in China are now four times greater than other places in South and South East Asia. However, the report says China can defend its position because of its productivity and infrastructure. China is still dominant in the production of goods such as consumer electronics and furniture.

But the report says that production of clothing and footwear is now more widely dispersed across Asia, with Indonesia and Vietnam specialising in the production of footwear and India developing a niche in hand-stitched fabrics and metalware. According to KPMG estimates, Indonesia's footwear exports grew by 42% in 2010 to $2.1bn (£1.3bn), while Bangladesh saw textiles exports grow by 43% to more than $18bn in the year to July 2011. "Sourcing goods in China purely because of ultra-low costs is a thing of the past," said Nick Debnam, KPMG's Asia-Pacific chair. "With demand still soft in many Western consumer markets, it is also proving difficult for companies to pass on higher costs to consumers. This changing environment is forcing companies to reassess sourcing strategies."

    Rising wages

China is battling its highest rate of inflation in three years although the latest consumer prices data from August suggests that the rate is beginning to ease. While much of China's manufacturing has begun to migrate westwards from the south and east of the country to cheaper provinces such as Sichuan, the report says the cost advantages from such moves inland may be short-lived. KPMG says that China's increasing manufacturing costs are more to do with the country's demographics.

China's one-child policy has resulted in a "sudden and serious" shortage of the labour that gives workers in both the richer coastal provinces and poorer inland areas the leverage to demand higher wages. The report was based on interviews with 12 major multinational companies including Ikea, B&Q-owner Kingfisher and Hong Kong's Li & Fung, which sources goods for big-name clients including Wal-Mart.

Kinda funny how, instead of a 'sequester', the Wall Street bankers got bailed out.

The economic problems in USA is really Americans own doing. The corrupt financial sector along with US gov't created economic bubbles that destroyed wealth for millions of Americans. American companies have no loyalty to the People of USA, looking only to maintain their bottom line.

American citizens for the most part, like the gov't spends without any consideration for the future. Unlike the Chinese who save money to establish businesses and further the education of the young.

I think many people are failing to notice the similarity between the pre Civil War south and China

The apparent difference is that in China they are enslaving their own instead of another ethnic group

I think what you and most people in America are missing is the fact that it is part of a bigger scam
    1. cost less to pay for 15,000 employee's there than it does here.
    2. They allow cheaper labor in (illegals) to make less jobs available for the higher paid worker
    FACT IS:
until they force cost of labor down for manufacturing they can not afford to make things that ONLY rich countries will buy
There are a lot more poorer countries willing to buy things that they can not afford
because it is expensive to support our countries wages.

Truth is our POOR are better off than many countries middle class.
