Correct. Ranking when it comes to holding a trophy means squat when it comes to positive global outlook. All the competitive people can compete with by running circiles around eachother in the USA, and it means nothing in the level of skill, and intelectual ability when you measure the best of the best throughout the world. l look at many factors to evaluate outcome and predictions of the global market using some of the facts with stitistical metrics to meausre odds for investing in the future. As a gambling man, I would not bet on thte USA's growth outlook, and recent history has proven that the outlook for emerging countries are where the opportunities lay both in revenue, production, and capitalism of those countries.
While the USA has been sleeping at the wheel for the past 15 years and trying to prove to themselves they are #1 in the world economy, other countries have made great progress with economic and manufacturing growth; involving technology, science, agreculture, services, tourism, and human rights and political policy. The USA on the other hand has been stable in growth for the past 15 years. But, the USA has declined in manufacturing, and political policy. And once you lose ability to grow in manufacturing/production you can never regain the competitive edge against other countries who have seen and learned from your mistakes.
The USA is not only a blueprint for success in capitalism in the global market, it is the blueprint for failure too, in every aspect of capitalism. Other emerging countries who have Governments, that actually control of their countries, have use these blueprints for their success, and will avoid failure. The only thing the USA can do is wait till they fail, and learn from those countries mistakes.

Uh huh. Tell that 'personal responsibility' crap to the honest, decent and hard-working people whom your 'responsible' insurance companies bankrupted out of their homes because they had the affrontery to become sick.
Next I expect we'll be hearing 'family values' and 'the American Way'...more vacuous bullcrap force-fed you by the propaganda machinery.
If so, then lucky him/her that some Americans provide the opportunity for such. It is kind of odd that some Americans are so supportive of such celebrations, doing everything possible to ensure that such will happen. One would think that more Americans would want to work on and improve mistakes instead of focusing on discussing those who celebrate them.
