Thread: India arrests suspect for Israeli car bomb

NEW DELHI—Police in India have arrested a senior Indian journalist in connection to his alleged role in last month's bomb attack on an Israeli diplomat's vehicle in the Indian capital city, the police and the family of the journalist said.

Mohammad Ahmad Kazmi, 50 years old, an editor of a New Delhi-based, Urdu-language news agency called Media Star News and Features, was picked up by Delhi police Tuesday for interrogation and his home was searched, Mr. Kazmi's family said. Police placed him under arrest the following day.

It is the first arrest related to the incident.


On Feb.13, a man riding a motorcycle attached a bomb with what appeared to be a magnetic device to an Israeli embassy vehicle, according to Delhi police accounts. The explosion injured a woman, who is the wife of an Israeli diplomat and herself an embassy employee, and her Indian driver. Two people in a nearby car also were injured.

Following the incident, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu linked the attack to a foiled attempt the same day to kill another diplomat in the country of Georgia, and blamed Iran. India has close economic ties with Iran, the source of the bulk of its crude-oil imports, and has refrained from blaming any group or country for the action.

You confuse being "in connection" with something as being the same as being "behind" something.
