The French are investigating a murder and tracking down possible affiliates, as any police force would.
Waking up to what? Of all the Euros, France knows plenty about Islam and much more than many. As with UK history, France has always had involvement due to geographical location, immigration and ex-colonial ties. There are no surprises at all for France.
