Well, admittedly, neither the U.K. nor America quite have the level of corruption that Russia can offer the working class.

Strange when I mention something about capitalism always I got reply "there you are look what Soviets done, or Russia"
Yes Russia is not that perfect country. Well my point abolish capitalism would be better idea for all us.

Let this be a lesson for American leftists as to the flip side of having a powerful federal govt. The nanny is also a very grim taskmaster. There is a duality in all things.

They didn't like Russian politics pre-Glasnost, but now they're complaining about UK acquiring more openness. Can't please them.

Ah well the Cons are in power now and you know what they're like, all mouth and authoritarianism.

Btw, is that different from already existing laws regarding phone tapping? They need a warrant and reasonable cause. That is how it already works. The internet is new, new laws are required to police it. But GCHQ has always performed listening duties.

And who would be the first to squeal if a terrorist conducts business online and is not prosecuted...
Yes, phone calls are between individuals...this is closer to a universal monitoring...your conservations, theirs, their records, their interests...their lives.

Think about it for a minute...today politicians already use the IRS to audit enemies. Now imagine if they can wander through all electronic communications. The feds have created so many laws already that something anyone at all does is illegal. They do not need to monitor everyone, just suspected enemies.

So what? It's the same. They've been tapping phones forever. The net is no different, it's just a new extension. (that was a phone pun. Extension)

They can already wander through electronic communications and so can every decent hacker in the world. What's online is not private. It's quasi public and has always carried that risk.

But only government can arrest you for what they find...and they will eventually go after enemies...Remember when Nixon had 1 FBI file and someone went to jail for a year. By the time Clinton had over 1000 nothing was done and no one jailed. When Bush monitored overseas conservations between terrorists the civil liberties world about came to an end yet when Obama expanded the program a thousandfold, yawns from all. When Nixon had a list of 'enemies', a list not used for much, there was shock and horror. When Clinton used his enemies list to sick the IRS on his political enemies, barely a word...

In short, once the initial shock is gone the next fellow can do pretty much what he wants. This new law in the UK will be abused eventually to go after political enemies...Guaranteed.

    And it's not great, either!

The ironic thing is that when it was proposed by NuLabour in 2006......it was the Tories and LibDems who resisted the plan when they were in opposition........and it was not as far-reaching as this one they are going for now appears to be from the sounds of it.

They do appear to need a warrant as in phone tapping...but hey...who in Government cares about obeying the laws they come up with for the rest of us in the country?

NEWSNET SCOTLAND..doesn't adhere to the Unionist view
    YOUR SCOTLAND. YOUR REFERENDUM
Cowardice asks the question, 'Is it safe?' Expediency asks the question, 'Is it politic?' But conscience asks the question, 'Is it right?' And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but because conscience tells one it is right. Martin Luther King Jr.
