The Arabs made this hashtag so they could share their congratulations with Egyptians for the first ever live debate in the Arab world for a leader. A historical occasion and the end of the rule of pharaohs and unelected dictatorships. A call for their freedom also to choose.

But I thought the Arabs hated Americans, why then this thirst for US culture with presidential candidates debating live on TV? What's wrong with your own culture and values?

I have never heard of hate expressed towards Americans in this part of the world.
They are not terribly fond of some aspects of American Foreign Policy however. Some Americans are not fond of their own country's foreign policy for that matter.

TV isn't the preserve of the West and neither is face-to-face debate. The oud is the earliest string instrument but nobody complains about cultural plagiarism at the Grand Ol' Opry.

That said, I really dislike seeing arabs in Western suits. Western politicians in kaftans ? Different matter entirely.

That's not an arab, that's a chimpanzee. Actually, his tailor has made a very fine job of the leg cut. Probably jewish.
