I hope that the Mos. Bros have had long talks with army officers already.

Going by the info I've so far come across , it looks like the sentence Mubarak received was merciful - and took into account his present age + health.

IMO its a sign of the Egyptian judicial system's justice and mercy, unlike the rough justice meted out to deposed leaders in many other developing countries.

A bright new dawn for Egypt.

Not too much for me or my family has changed personally. Day to day security is the biggest worry. The government is the same one under Mubarak. The same people are making decisions. The main thing though is a sense of freedom to talk and express an opinion. That was something Egyptians could never do except behind closed doors, never in public. The fear has left us of the police now. Every Egyptian lived in a constant state of anxiety of arrest for no reason. If a policemen stopped your car and asked for a bribe and you did not hand over money or if you are poor trader they would take a crate of grapes or peaches then you could likely end up in a cell accused of some false charges and torture was the common thing they used for fun then release you as they knew it would not hold up in court. Things like that have changed.

    .....
Mubarak would not get death penalty because of age. It has to be ratified by the Islmaic head of Al Azhar any death penalty and they are often overturned. Al Azhar would never have stamped Mubarak death warrant due to his age.
There is a call last night while in Tahrir for the Rome Statute to be ratified however so that Egypt can join ICC and have retrial.

The state security burned most of the documents prosecution could have used. Judge Rifaat was also part of old regime and the people need to find a killer for their sons. Justice was not done. If Mubarak and Adley were responsible for not stopping killings, then we are asking then why the generals were acquitted? They also could have stopped the killings. It made no sense. BUT the judge did say beautifully the first 20 minutes how every Egyptian suffered under Mubarak if you were not part of the regime system, the supporters of the old regime. You should try to read that and if I see it in English I will post it because you will get a sense of what life was like under Mubarak. The reality.

Well I will give a kind of roundup of what I heard and saw last night at Tahrir.

Shafik banners and posters are all being torn down and there is huge cries for cleansing and purging of ex regime. Yesterday was day 19 of revolution.
Women were sexually assaulted again in both Tahrir and Alex and assaults came at the same time. The protesters captured some of them because the women Tweeted and all men went to location. Tahrir was at Hardees. The captured all carried state security ids!
Same tactics are being used as before.

Morsi-Fotouh-Ali-Sabahi all went to the Tahrir and Sabahi was carried like a superstar I will post photo. They are talking of forming a presidential council instead now. El Baradei is flying in tomorrow and many many prominent are now calling for a PC instead of president to finally cleanse ourselves of Shafik threat.

Today these guys are holding pressers. Shafik has called for presser in Dokki his HQ and said that verdict was fair!!! he is 100% felool so what else could we expect. The Coptic vote went to him which makes no sense at all if you listen to them espcially since they said they suffered so badly under Mubarak. Why would they then vote for return of regime and that has many questions. Why not Sabahi after all if they ALL voted Sabahi today we would all be looking at Sabahi as winner. Christian tycoon Saweiris said he voted Mussa. Again why vote in ex regime figure??????
Result being that now we are questioning what Coptic Christians are up to. Saweiris was good friend of Mubarak, he did not get to be a tycoon under Mubarak without being part of the regime.

Mussa has been silent not unusual at all! that many headed snake felool! No doubt he was smoking his cigar in Tora waiting room waiting to see his old friend Mubark once he was settled into his bed and stopped finally crying.
Most Egyptians never fell for Mussa trickster campaign.

General feeling is that a purge of ALL felool is now the only answer. It's so deeply embedded in every sector over so long it will take a long time to cleanse oursleves of again read Judge Rifaat statement yesterday to get an idea.

Hamdeen Sabahi carried into Tahrir last night

Just read that the Head of the Coptic Bible Society has stated that Christians are safer with Shafik or Morsi and not Sabahi??????
This is the kind of thing which makes no sense at all and seems another endorsement for Shafik........................ ........?

Now you can see why we are sick and angry

Under this regime thousands of prisoners in Mubaraks new home Tora were tortured and gang raped by these monsters and given womens names.

Egypt needs to purge the country of these monsters and their supporters!

If the Egyptians draw their knives to "cleanse" the old regime the blood will not cease even when a new president will take the seat, just look at other revolutions in history, the accusation of "traitor" will always be a presidential instrument against the opposition, and that's not a democracy,

Life imprisonment to Mubarak is a good statement, asking Death will not, the best thing to do in a democratic point of view will be moving forward and stop hunting for former regime personnel, you might decline to another type of dictatorship....

That sentence can easily be overturned and if Shafik is elected he will pardon him.
I did not ask for death.

You disagree with El Baradei and the rest of us? total purge of regime so we can have clean foundation to rebuild?

would you build your new house on a swamp of snakes?

Democracy begins with justice and accountability. Something I would not expect you as an Israeli to understand.

I admit that the situation in Egypt is a bit more complex since you still have the miltary in control, assuming they will draw back after the elections - as I understood they said they will - then no need to continue with it, its over, Egypt will need all its resources to build itself anew and killing each other will not help,

Murderers and butchers will find themselves in the court of law even 20 years from now, they wont escape justice but to do it on mass scale to the voices of the mob in the street will not be justice and it will only freak the military, a responsible leader will clam things down.

All Egyptians should be concentrating upon their common enemy- as should all Syrians and all Lebanese. It is due to the wealth and cunning of their common enemy that they are not.
