Default furiously fudging

The Republican administration and the Republican Senators have settled all their differences; dont believe me? well, look for yourselves -

"In a telling move, during a call with reporters today, National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley would not even answer a question about whether waterboarding would be permitted under the agreement."

On the other hand one of the Republican senators, Lindsey Graham from South Carolina, said of waterboarding, in which a prisoner is subjected to the sensation of drowning: "It is a technique that we need to let the world know we are no longer engaging in."

Even at this late stage, it seems, there is no final clarity."

uh, well, y'know...they kinda did, with just a few grey areas around the issue of TORTURE...

Default .

If water-boarding isn't permitted and it's been done in the past, I would think that there would be some legal ramifications for anyone involved in these procedures. Maybe that's why the right is so worried and is attempting to make torture acceptable and mainstream.

Y'all have got to get some new talking points.
Happens on both sides... back to the point.

If in the year 2070 we go to War with Britain, do you want them waterboarding our soldiers? Apparently its so awful CIA opperatives can not withstand it for more than 14 seconds. Is this what you want for our soldiers?
Or would you rather have them treated according to Geneva rules?

Do you hate American soldiers so much that you want them to be tortured?

I personally would like to protect American soldiers and citizens by not having them tortured by unforseen enemies in the future. I guess you couldn't give a FF about how our soldiers get treated.

You know what would really protect our citizens. Genocide on every other country. Use nukes and our #1 Army to kill every living being who isn't a naturalized US citizen. Then we would be safe for sure.

If you don't believe in that, than I can assume by your moronic logic, that you would rather protect terrorists than US citizens. Please feel free to prove me wrong.

Default Our captured

Our captured soldiers are tortured, fool. They're trained to expect torture if they're ever captured and how to deal with it. What an idiotic position.

Do you seriously believe that this has anything at all to do with how our soldiers are treated (past, present, or future)? Is it possible that you believe that this will cause our soldiers to be treated well? Do you believe reports of torture will stop?

aggressive interrogations -- will continue.
Quote:
The deal was reached when Bush dropped his insistence that the United States redefine the Geneva Conventions to allow the coercive techniques -- which remain classified, but reportedly include sleep and food deprivation and forcing suspects to stand for protracted periods.
Quote:
the senators agreed to rewrite the 1996-97 War Crimes Act to ban only the most aggressive techniques. Currently, the act bans anything that would constitute a "grave breach" of the Geneva Conventions.
Quote:
Both sides expressed confidence that the agreement would allow the CIA's interrogation program for "high-value" suspects, the exact parameters of which remain classified, to continue.
Quote:
Rewriting the War Crimes Act to outlaw specific acts -- and implicitly permitting others
Quote:
Rather than give defendants full access to classified information gathered against them, as the senators initially wanted, defendants will be allowed to review only the evidence prosecutors present to juries. And prosecutors will be able to redact from that evidence any intelligence-gathering "sources and methods."
Quote:
The agreement reached yesterday strips defendants at the Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, detention facility of those "habeas corpus" rights.
