The reason it's so hard to confirm is because the blast wasn't quite the size they were looking for. It will be interesting to see what Japan's response will be. If you're going to defy the world to gain some respect, it helps if your long range missle actually works, and your nuke is powerful enough to be detected.

I don't think China would allow that... We need to put serious pressure on China, we already have them hooked on the money they make off of selling us cheap crap, I'm sure if we threatened to stop the raging river of Money flowing from the US into China, they would take all the action needed to end this situation...

Hay I got a theory or two:
1: Lets pull all of our ground troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan and prep them to do an invasion of North Korea next year. Lets burn the entire people of North Korea with conventional weapons down to the ground. Or lets try this: 2. Lets nuke North Korea with small A bombs and neutron H bombs. OR 3. Lets move the city of Soul South Korea south say 30 miles and arm the South Koreans with say 300 tactical short rage nukes. What say! "According to Western estimates[11], North Korea has the fifth-largest military in the world, with the largest percentage of citizens enlisted (49.03 active troops per thousand citizens). The North has an estimated 1.08 million armed personnel, compared with about 686,000 South Korean troops (and 3.5 million paramilitary forces) plus 29,000 US troops in South Korea. Military spending is about $5 billion USD.[4] The North has perhaps the world's second-largest special operations force (55,000), designed for insertion behind enemy lines in wartime." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Korea#Military

I have a hard time believing China would allow the UN to do that either..but it should be put forward.
Frankly wihtout the UN....the states who are still technically at war with North Korea(everyone who fought in the KoreanWar) can and should view this as a massive redefining of the terms of the 1953 cease fire...adn impose a blockade regardless of the pathetic UN. If China decides to remain chummy with Norht Korea then yes we should instiagte a series of policies that basically make them into the USSR. We shoudl make it clear they can be friends with all of us and reap the beneifits they are ..or they can be friends with North Korea and go back to the 1950's. Ben you basically say we can't do anything.....thats not true and a really dumb thought proces to be blunt about it. If the mere threat of your enemy is enough to make you cower...then the reality of your enemy will conquer you. -oh and it seems pretty certain now that the test did occur..iow it is real. |

Confirmed, by seismics and direct reports.
Japan is already talking about arming. Another gigantic George Bush screw-up. Nah, we don't want to talk to them, even though everyone says we should, but nah, they won't get away their previous tactics anymore..... Here's a synonym: GWB = DUMB. Plain enough? Next it'll be Iraq. You wait and see. That'll play out before the end of GWB's lame-duck presidency. On the other hand, it looks like W might be in some deep doo-doo here shortly, within 30 days or so. If the Dems gain control, you can bet your bottom dollar there'll be investigations up the wazoo, and then GWB's so-called "policy" with respect to North Korea will be the least of his problems. Today I heard two people directly implicate the President in the bribery scheme propounded by the Delay/Scanlon/Reed crowd. The "secretary of state" of one of those Indian nations down south got on the airwaves and said Abramoff told him directly that his payments would buy the President's ear. That's a pretty big one, we'll have to see if it plays out - all I can tell you so far, is that Rove appears to be a point-man, and all those other guys are either in jail or going there quick (and for a long time). I remember telling you guys all about this over a year ago when I joined this forum, but no one believed me back then. As I recall, the title of my thread was "Teapot Dome all over again", or something like that. I'll let you search for it in the archives. I can smell a con-artist a mile away. And our illustrious President is the top dog in that regard. In my humble opinion. |
