Default Cheney and Waterboarding...lil help?

26 Oct 2006
Quote:
Dick Cheney, US vice-president, has endorsed the use of "water boarding" for terror suspects and confirmed that the controversial interrogation technique was used on Khaled Sheikh Mohammed, the senior al-Qaeda operative now being held at Guantánamo Bay.

Quote:
The White House said Friday that Vice President Dick Cheney was not talking about a torture technique known as "water boarding" when he said dunking terrorism suspects in water during questioning was a "no-brainer."

"You know as a matter of common sense that the vice president of the United States is not going to be talking about water boarding. Never would, never does, never will," presidential spokesman Tony Snow said. "You think Dick Cheney's going to slip up on something like this? No, come on."

hahahahaha Cheney...not slip up? Every time he opens his stupid mouth he slips up.

Who cares?

I don't have a soft spot in my heart for terrorists as some people do.

1) If Cheney ever comes forward and says we do waterboard procedures on terrorists thats fine. I already hate him enough, but for him to go back after acknowledging what we are doing as "waterboarding" and introduce the word 'dunking' instead--which is a wee bit more humane, that infuriates me. Make up your mind, scumbag!

2) I care. I dont think we should lower ourselves to their standards. We are not likely to extract reliable information if we get any at all. And at the expense of our dignity and integrity? Thats fine if you want to take a 300 year step back, but the rest of us want to move up and forward.

Default JP, DC should care since he broke the law.

Quote:
Republican Sens. John Warner of Virginia, John McCain of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina have said that a law Bush signed last month prohibits waterboarding.

I wonder what the punishment will be for DC now that he admits that he broke the law.

But that's where you're wrong---we DID get tons of information from Khalid Sheik Mohammed. That information lead to arrests which led to more arrests. No telling how many innocent civilian lives were saved as a result.

Do I care that KSM had a few moments of thinking he was going to die? Not at all. He is responsible for 3000 people dying on 9/11.....most of them trapped in such unbearable smoke and fire that some of them chose to jump 110 stories to their deaths instead. You want to think about PURE TORTURE??? Think of those men and women who died on 9/11. And realize that people like him and his buddies are going to do it again...and again...and again if given the chance.

It's NOT torture. Making someone believe they might die to get them to talk is not torture. He was not harmed----still has all his fingers, toes and even his ugly head!

torture is more than just amputations.

# anguish: extreme mental distress
# unbearable physical pain
# agony: intense feelings of suffering; acute mental or physical pain; "an agony of doubt"; "the torments of the (*)(*)(*)(*)ed"
# torment: torment emotionally or mentally
# distortion: the act of distorting something so it seems to mean something it was not intended to mean
# subject to torture; "The sinners will be tormented in Hell, according to the Bible"
# the deliberate, systematic, or wanton infliction of physical or mental suffering by one or more persons in an attempt to force another person to yield information or to make a confession or for any other reason; "it required unnatural torturing to extract a confession"

I'm wrong? When did I say we never get reliable information? I do think of the victims of 9/11 but I also think about our dignity and integrity. We should be above and beyond torturing people. By torturing we make ourselves no better than them.

They torture out of hate.
We torture for information.

torture = torture. There is no justification.
