Yes actually we did make Saddam Hussein the victim. as well as the citizens of his republic. His country was bombed repeatedly by the US from the gulf war on. heavy sanctions were set on his country, ruining the once booming iraqi economy. Sanctions for having WMD's which have never been found. in 2003 his country was illegally and unjustly invaded and bombed. His trial was completely unfair, biased and illegitamate. therefore his death penalty is unjust. His sons and grandson were killed as well as a high number of his civilians by the occupying forces. The West definitely made Saddam the victim.

While you are correct that the half life of isotope uranium-238 is 4.5 billion years, depleted uranium consists however isn't completely made of Ur-238, and consists of about 40% less radioactive uranium then natural Uranium. Making the external radiation dose from DU about 60 percent of that from the same mass of natural uranium. ["Properties and Characteristics of DU" U.S. Office of the Secretary of Defense] Which still is a considerate amount.

Furthermore the real problem in the usage of depleted uranium doesn't lie in the radioactive hazards of DU but in the Chemical hazards of DU. U-238 is a heavy metal whose compounds are known from laboratory studies to be toxic to mammals. Metallic uranium is prone to corrosion and small pieces are pyrophoric in air. yes, depleted uranium is used in food. But the amount is so little that it's in no comparison to that used on the battle field. Also this amount is negligable for the prostetic teeth. And as for the xray walls. It's the least worse of the 2. However strict guidelines are in place for people operating xray machines. In fact, they have a limited amount of time they may spend operating a xray machine (and thus being in contact with du)
