This whole thread is just weird. I don't get it. Somebody explain it to me?
Its much the same as conversing with a brick wall. They will never admit that the legitamacy of the Iraq war and the motives behind it will always be in question due to the Bush administrations penchant for lies, propaganda and complete disregard for our allies and the UN.

BAGHDAD – An all-girls high school celebrated the opening of several sports facilities and a new generator July 16 during a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the Rashid district of southern Baghdad.

The renovation effort stemmed from a partnership with the Rashid District Council, the Ministry of Education and Coalition forces.

Capt. Thao Reed, a 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division company commander encouraged the Karkh II Sports Director of the Education District, Ahmed Abdullah, to establish a girls’ sports program across Rashid, and advised the school board to renovate the school.

“I am very happy today,” said Maida Ismail Majwed, the principal of the school. “This event means a lot for the girls, and I believe it made them happy. Also, this is an important event for all the women of Iraq.”

The ceremony showcased a new indoor volleyball court, outdoor basketball and volleyball court, and a generator to provide electricity.

“I am thankful for everything and will keep my experiences here today with me for the rest of my life,” said Alia Ahmed, a student at the school and avid athlete. “I hope the sports stay in operation here and continue to develop for all female sports. Each female has her own interests, but sports are something that everybody likes.”

“I hope we are someday equal to women from other cultures,” Majwed stated. “I hope this is the first step towards a glorious future.”

Excellent news... when will our troops be coming home?

correct... Iraq would not have been invaded in the first place had Obama had his way... but then, only being a Illinois state senator at the time, he didn't have much say in it.

The democrats want the troops either home with their families or in Afghanistan chasing down that rat, Osama Been Forgotten, while the republicans want our troops bogged down in Iraq protecting the oil that just isn't flowing...

Never mind that women HAD all these rights under Saddam.

Now... my newly feminist neocon brothers... what will we do about the shabby way women are treated in Saudi Arabia? Kuwait? The Rest of the Arab World?

Invade them?

Funny how you just love women's rights in the post-Saddam Iraq while you apparently support a candidate who is against equal pay for equal work in America.
Cmon, TJO, you know the righties care more about the Iraqis then they do about their fellow citizens... except of course, when it comes to actually enlisting and helping out with the military effort there IN Iraq... THEN they have other things to do... polish their nails... powder their noses... fluff their tails...

The fact the many of us who are your ALLIES see as imperialist is a problem. Simply we dont trust you any more. How can we when you refuse to deal with the problems in front of you.
excellent points, dreamer...

they're clutching at straws, kronik... anything to show that the loss of 4000+ american lives is worthwhile... there is no comparison of course... and I find it extrememly telling that the righties seem to think there is...

soccer balls for children in exchange for the lives of 4000+ americans...

nope... I just don't see it as a good trade off... but that's just my opinion...

I thought women were being raped while Saddam was in power. You're saying that's the same?

"Rape. The Iraqi Government uses rape and sexual assault of women to achieve the following goals: to extract information and forced confessions from detained family members; to intimidate Iraqi oppositionists by sending videotapes showing the rape of female family members; and to blackmail Iraqi men into future cooperation with the regime. Some Iraqi authorities even carry personnel cards identifying their official "activity" as the "violation of women's honor." (U.S. Department of State, Country Reports on Human Rights Practices-2001, March 2002; Iraq Research and Documentation Project, Harvard University)"
